First off,I have to say it does sound incredible what they hope to do with XIII,and if they pull it off,I have no doubt it will be incredible...but I'm afraid I don't think they can.Incorporating that kind of gameplay into an FF title just seems like it's a little bit of their reach at the moment.I think SE are probably the best in the world when it comes to RPG's,but including those kind of action elements will probably be a real problem for programmers/artists/whatever,who for years up until now have been working pretty exclusively on games with an RPG style.
Also,I think it's a bit ambitious to try and revolutionize a tried and tested combat system on a brand new machine.Look at all previous gens,it takes time to come to terms with new tech, and to master it,and I don't think they could possibly be ready for such an overhaul with so little experience with the PS3 Dev kits.
Then again, the PS3 dev kits use C and C++,which is a hell of a lot easier to work with than the assembly language the PS2 kits used,so just never know...
I hope I'm wrong,but I don't think they can do it.
It sounds to me like SE is getting a bit to envious, and there also acting with a big ego. It seems like they think they can do anything and people will play it. But I don't see how it would even be possible to make the battles better than AC. They are just being egotistical.
Im sure theyll do fine. Square has come a long way to fail now.
Notice that theyr first game for a new console were the most succesful: FFVII and FFX. So Im not worried.^_^

And for your information, It was Square that made those games, But since the merger with Enix, they have lost there former selves. Many of the Square heavy hitters left and became independent. Not to mention that the father of FF is no longer with them. So if you think that the new SE could stand up to the old Square, Then you are going to be disappointed in the near future
Sakaguchi is still here... I thought he WAS the father of FF. :? correct me if i'm wrong.
Battle system like AC, i think it's the way they're going to display the battle system, not really the way it works. AC wasn't a game, we wouldn't know how the battle system will work in AC.
I believe, SE is just saying things like "it's going to be like AC" is because the battle sequences are going to be displayed as seen in AC. Seamless, continuous, dynamic and in real time. As seen from the FFXIII trailer, it's still pretty much assured that the inputting of commands during battle is still pretty much current-RPG like, no way near an Action game or anything like that.
Here's my take on this, anyway. They've tried out many types of battle systems with FFs all through the years, from turn based to ATB, to the Gambit system. I believe SE is capable of doing something orignal, and on this point, successfully.
lets hope that Final fantasy XIII wil be as good, maybe even better then other FF. I know it is hard for them to do that but the start looks good. The new battle system really looks cool and the graphics are outstanding. Lets hope that the future wiil be good. :DSir-Dark-RaidenEven better... I really hope so, but fanboys are waiting only for its release to say how bad it is.
