I want to see a JRPG have a character like Manny Calavera or Marcus Fenix. BUt sadly, characters like that won't exist since they aren't androgenous males, and thus not cool enough for JRPGs

Looks too good to be true.. If this really is CGI... then why do square-enix release these pics to show off the game? They must know by now people know the difference between CGI and realtime graphics... unless it is realtime.. I hope they show some gameplay screens or a video at the square-enix party on may 12th.
I'm impressed - I know it's CGI, but I'm still impressed. There's nothing wrong with a little high-end CGI in a game. These days, because of the high cost of doing FMVs and improving engines, you rarely see them adding pre-rendered scenes to a game, so seeing it done like this every now and then can be refreshing.
Not a Sony fan, but I have to to give redit for some solid graphics. Let's hope the gameplay is there too, we'll be seeing more about that later this year / early next year. Get rid of the Sphere Grid and its clones, okay Square Enix?
At least this character is actually female. I'm just glad they decided to actually take the next step instead of making another girly male lead. I don't understand why they even did that in the first place. Why not just have a female character instead of giving a male character that is almost female. It can't be a reflect of males in Japan either, doesn't happen all that much in animated show as well, so once again I never got why they started doing it in the games.
Still after Final Fantasy 12 and to a degree 11 I'm no longer interested in Final Fantasy, at least the main numbered series. I might check out the new Crystal Chronicles on the Wii but I never tried the one on the Game Cube. The series itself started to really lose me after Final Fantasy X. The last one I really enjoyed was Final Fantasy 9 and that mainly was I think because I was so disappointed by Final Fantasy 8 and FF9 was more old school like FF 4, 5, and 6 (which are my favorites in the series). Really not disappointed at all that I'll be missing out on these latest games. The series while clearly looks great and better just lost something over the years. Or maybe my taste are just change as I've grown and matured.
Didn't SE say that most of the FFXIII trailer was ingame graphics and that looked amazing.. So I wouldn't be surprised if this screen is part of an ingame cutscene..

Well ingame scripted scenes are still different from ingame gameplay. Both use the same engine but with scripted scenes you can get point of views you wouldn't have access to during normal gameplay. Which is why in say battle in Final Fantasy games, more so the later ones when you do summons the camera zooms in on characters, their actions, etc but you never get that when you directly control the character.Â
 What I'm really curious about is how much of this new FF will be gameplay compared to cut scenes. That was my huge problem with Xenosaga. Is this game going to be an actual game or a interactive movie? Yes I know they are two different games made by different companies, doesn't mean the concern is misplaced.

When they showed the CG dance scene from FFVIII everyone thought it was real time.
This image is obviously CG. Neither the PS3 nor the 360 could ever hope to run that in real time.

At first i thought you guys were making fun of the game but i guess your serious. The character in the pic is a guy not a girl. The FF with the girl character is FFXIII not FFVSXIII.

You'd be a fool to not know this is CGI, but it's not like SE is hyping this game off of false visuals...FF games have always had CG cutscenes and this one should be no different. People act like it's a crime to even post a pic like this. You know the game is going to look amazing regardless.
