10 year old civilization II save file paints a grim picture

ever wondered what a game of civ 2 thats been going on for 10 realtime year would be like? the year for this match started is 3991A.D. 3 civilizations are still waging war on the nuclear level. whole areas of the map have become nuclear wastelands.

for nearly 1000 years of in-game play these three remaining powers have been locked a nuclear stalemate.

cities are gone only small villages and outposts remain. the population has been decimated by both nuclear strikes and famine. whole years of play would go by thanks to this player with no progress. roads would be constantly built only to be destroyed a turn later. no area on the map was farmable PERIOD. and democaracy of any kind on all three sides was gone like the wind.

Neat, if not really SW relevant.

But still, neat.

That sounds shockingly similar to 1984.

Console gamers do it to PC gamers, PC gamers to console gamers, they all make fun of people who play board games, the first person shooter guys make fun of the MMO guys, the MMO guys make fun of the RTS guys, the RTS guys make fun of platformer guys, and the jocks who spend all their time playing football with their buddies make fun of all of us gamers.

It's a stupid, hipocritical vicious cycle.

Someone, somewhere thinks YOU are wasting your time being on these forums, someone somewhere thinks youa re nerd for that, and a geek for liking video games at all.

I mean, seriously, what's the difference between aguy who probably spent all of 5 minutes a week playing a turn based game with his friend for 10 years, vs some other guy who spent the last 10 years playing shooters with strangers on the internet? Or the guy who spent the last 10 years playing single player RPG's like Elderscrolls fo rhundreds of hours?

@TC Really makes you think about what kind of a future a awaits future generations. Also nuclear wars seems inevitable the only hope I see is when the next world war happens the countries involved get treaties not use nuke but doubt that can happen.

Civ II,still my all time favorite Civ.

You know this is going to make me start a new V game now...

I hope there is a more peaceful and propserous future in another save file :(

Though I doubt humans will ever truly get along, we will always fight each other. I don't think there will ever be total peace on Earth until God decides it's time.
