Did they really put up Call of Duty: Black Ops for GOTY ?
Nike_Air
Yes they did. And I thought these guys were supposed to be the "oscars" of the video game world! They're about as bad as Spike it seems...

I think poor nominations indeed does make this the "Oscars" of video games. (Take that, Mr. Academy).[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"][QUOTE="Nike_Air"]

Something oddly similar about you two....Can't put my finger on it though. Don't want to leave a mark on my computer screen
Ya know, as much as I loved vanquish, it's not this end all be all you make it out to be.
Vanquish is a one trick pony that does it's trick very well.

Nah, you're just imagining things. One two many hits over the head from da Tower Knight's shield.

I am dissapoint in you Animal! Was The Godfather a one trick pony? Citizen Kane? Laurence of Arabia? Transformers Revenge of the Fallen? I think not!

Transformers revenge of the fallen completely destroys any indication of seriousness due to it being A) a Mbay film and B) Having horrific plot and such. I never said vanquish was bad, it's a really good game. BUT it's only got a few things going for it. Extremely good gunplay and rocket thrusters.Enslaved was actually pretty good albeit some major problems, still a great experience.really enslaved?

Pathetic, isn't it? I had a chance to play BO for the first time last night on PC and it was terrible just like the rest of the retrashes. GOW3 and Enslaved being up there is well deserved, great games.Did they really put up Call of Duty: Black Ops for GOTY ?

When does it start getting good? I just finished Trip's village and am contemplating not finishing the game
I really enjoyed it before hand. I know a lot of people will say "lol" ninja theory but. I dunno I enjoyed it for what it was. Just an entertaining game. Combat is a bit week but it works and the story kept me goingEnslaved was actually pretty good albeit some major problems, still a great experience.[QUOTE="Animal-Mother"][QUOTE="Led_poison"]

If you didnt love it 30 minutes into the game you wont like any of it. Its obviously not for you. I fell in love with the game from the very start.[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"]

Vanquish did some awesome new s***, and it did it extremely well. So much so, that it's a far more memorable shooter than over 99% of the other games in the genra. It dared to be different, and not only was it different but it succeeded at introducing a new found level of awesomness that had yet to be seen init's overpopulated and stale genra. Timeless masterpiece is timeless, no matter how short :P

What did it do that was new? It did dare to be different and I found it memorable because of it's over the top ridiculousness. Was it fresh, a bit. But lets not lie to ourselves, theres some bias up in this thread. I mean its not bad, it just doesn't do anything exception for me. The character development is above average but the gameplay seems really shallow and the platforming is way too simplified

Some Vanquish bias? It's introduction of the rocket boosting mechanic, and it's seamless combination with other gameplay mechanics that have been used in the genra for a while now. The boosting, slow motion, and cover mechanics work so freakishly well together as a wholein Vanquish that it's borderline revolutionary. Shinji Mikami did something real amazing there and I think it should be achknowledged. Also the speedy action in this type of shooter is something we haven't really seen before.

Shinji mikami did one thing added rockets to a guys feet, and made a pretty damn fast paced game. BUT max payne did bullet time better. also I never denied he did something amazing. Im just questions how original it is.[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"][QUOTE="Animal-Mother"] What did it do that was new? That guy actually did a pretty awesome job at explaining this stuff.
I finally decided to comb through the list of nominees. Am I correct in not seeing Super Mario Galaxy 2 nominated for anything?JAB991
It's a real shame SMG2 has gotten snubbed so much in general, but having no nominations? I really dont follow these awards, do they general favour certain styles of games? Mostly stick to western developed games?

So your saying a game that took complete control of the events from the player, repeat most of the mission over and over agein, is an avarge tps, make you ride 50 miles to start a mission and only remarable qualities is that it has a great ending should of won goty?
Great games like Metro 2033 and Starcraft 2 get the shaft once again.
Game awards are a joke. Popularity wins. BC2 better win their GOTY.
