They say Sony announce games to early..

But in the end these are games people really want and more importantly they actually come out, so in spirit of system wars here goes...

Not going to lie, I had almost completely written this game off and the hype level was ~0 but damn Sony will simply not allow these 'wish and a prayer' games to go the way of the dinosaur because behold, it is real.

And I also must say after seeing the new trailer my hype is fully restored to Day F'in 1.

Everything is all fun and system wars until they realize the games are actually coming lol. In the words of Sony, "This is for the Playaz!".

I thought Ryo and Shenhua's faces might have looked a little fat, aside from that I'm digging out my Dreamcast today and race me some forklifts! Trailer looks great, I pledged to the Kickstarter the day it was announced and so far looks like my monies are being well spent. Haters can hate all they want, I'd be salty too if I only owned one console and wasn't getting Shenmue III. Now what about HD remasters of I & II?

I think the Yakuza games have spoiled me with bombastic fights.

It looks nice, but was that a real fight or just some practice thing?

The environments look great, the faces... don't?

This isn't a Sony game , though. Show us more on Dreams Sony!

it's just the eyes that make you feel like that, because they're always looking forward lol, the faces are fine. They will work that out in development, not a big deal.

Anyway the team is staying true to Shenmue's specific artistic style so the faces fit perfectly and everything else look fantastic in my opinion.

Shenmue was good, Yakuza took over the crown though.

To be fair what should we have expected? It was a kickstarter announced during the Sony E3.

That is still so many levels of pathetic Sony having a kick Starter announced on their main stage during E3.

Graphics look kind of like crap, but hey, I'm just excited to finish the damn trilogy. The giant cliffhanger was just too much.

Indeed, if it weren't for Sony this game would have never left the drawing board but now it's reality.

I'm looking forward too it. I'm a backer at the $113 mark and I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. They need to tweak Shenhua's face so she actually looks like herself. Ryo could use work as well but its close enough. The new logo... is horrible. Other than that, I'm pretty impressed.

To those saying/implying this is Dreamcast quality thus far, you're showing you have zero idea what you're talking about.

Not really surprising since the original two gamers were 'meh' and desperately overhyped by Dreamcast fans as validation for their failed console.

How amazing Yakuza 0 is, and safe to assume likewise for Kiwami and 6, is going to really dampen interest in this game.

And yes there are games that Sony have announced that have not surfaced in a long time which are in an unknown status or development hell which is why I am glad Sony doesn't keep putting those games in E3s shows when they are not ready.

I know not *all* games are going to make it to gold status in this business, that's why I had this statement in my OP:

lol, I know I didn't state it out word for word, but this does not apply to EVERY game that Sony ever announce, but to those special fan based titles that gamers hold dear even though they are not AAA blockbuster and NOT likely to be big sellers but hordes of gamers "wish" that they would be made anyway...not unlike The Last Guardian.

To give you an example: Scalebound woud be a "wish and a prayer" game for xbox fans. There would be no reason to bring up other random unreleased titles if somehow MS was able to bring Scalebound back to reality because other games did not hold the significance to xbox fans as this game.

Anyway :) I hope you're happy to see the game progressing.

I love how many people pretended to have played the first two games and are still hyping this to such a high level... I'm not saying that it will be a bad game or that the first two were. Just saying it was never anywhere near the level some people pretend or remember it to be. Using this game as a "Look what PS gets that X1 doesn't" isn't that solid of a burn.. just saying. It's a kickstarter game and I wish it the best, but if there is one thing I have learned with Kickstarter, that is that companies love to take your money and then they spend it on everything but the product and slowly develop the game you pledged for to the point you start to lose interest because it has been so damn long. Hope I am wrong.

I'm still waiting on H-Hour. After being the lead mod and spending 2-3 years and volunteering thousands of hours to that game it is STILL not even in the beginning stages of being ported and the "vision" of the game has been changed drastically. I still have hope that one day the game will come to console, but I'm not holding my breath these days.

If you personally don't think the game looks good and aren't excited for it then it's perfectly fine but you shouldn't start making rationalizations about why other people do think it looks great and are very excited just because you don't share that opinion.

Some people are excited for Crackdown 3 and I don't think that game looks very good but I'm not going to accuse the fans of that game that they are lying about their excitement for some alternative motive.

I openly tell people I didn't like Uncharted 4 one of Sony's/PS4's most hyped and high rated games, so believe me when I say I don't hype games based platform or corporation image and I doubt many people showing excitement for this game are either.

I think it perfectly underlines how weak the XBox's lineup really is. Games like Shenmue and a Crash Bandicoot redux can get sales and hype these days. That is precisely how non-present the XBox is now. There is nothing to compete, therefore beloved A and AA titles can bask in the sun like they used to before Gen7 came along. As much as some people might not like it, this is a return of normalcy of sorts.

The characters are retaining the old original style but the environments are (beautifully) realistic and that's uncanny as hell.
