1Up preview: DMC4 better on PS3, better than NG2

Better on PS3 in terms of control and graphics (says that it seemed "ported" to 360). Better than NG2 in terms of graphics and possibly may be better in terms of gameplay.

To be honest, Ninja Gaiden 2 doesn't look like it has changed much from Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Still...I'm waaaay more hyped for NG2 than DMC4. majadamus

I'm still debating which verison to get, I'm used to playing it with the PlayStation controller, but I also like achievements. To be honest, Ninja Gaiden 2 doesn't look like it has changed much from Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Still...I'm waaaay more hyped for NG2 than DMC4. majadamus

Sigma wasn't developed by Itagaki, it was developed by his protege. Technically the only leap that can be measured is....Dead or Alive or Ninja Gaiden Black to Ninja Gaiden 2.

Honestly, I don't know what 1Up is talking about. NG2 looks great to me, at least on par with Sigma.

But I've never been big on either franchise, NG or DMC. DMC1 was enjoyable, but Sigma left me snoozing. I haven't touched that game since the week I bought it.

Honestly, saying that it became multiplatform "halfway" through development is pretty hopeful of you. I have absolutely no doubt that they announced it when they had a playable version of the game because it had been in development for months prior. I expect the Playstation 3 version had maybe a half a year to 3/4 of a year lead, although that's entirely speculative.

Anyway, wait for the reviews, the demos, whatever, to make your own decision.

What are you talking about? Half of my post was facts about Devil May Cry 4, then the other half was me being indecisive about which version to get. Did you even watch the preview?

They didn't say it was a bad port, they just said that it looked like a port. Which it certainly is. So how much worse could that get? Plenty.

Oh well, no big deal. Like you said, still plenty of games that play better on the 360, I won't fault you that. However, keep in mind there are still a few that look/play better on PS3.

DMC fans ignore the fact that one guy rags on the Devil May Cry story in the video. Everyone in SW has been saying that the DMC story is way better, and this guy literally called it bull****.

Does anyone else get the feeling that their playing on easy in all the gameplay footage? I don't think I've seen Dante/Nero (can hardly tell the difference anyway, what's the point of making them look the same?) be struck once in the 10 min video or these clips.

NG2 is a long way away, and DMC4 has less time to improve. I'll keep an eye on both though.

I'm not even worried about the technicalities in the game. Capcom knows what they're doing on 360, I'm sure they'll have both versions in top shape with minimal differences by the time of its release. The only reason I'm doubting it because of the 360 controller, I have a feeling it won't be as responsive maybe? For lack of a better term, but whatever, yeah, it's still my #1 Q1 release for next year, and I've always believed Devil May Cry to be a better series than Ninja Gaiden.

That's just Shane's way of being blunt. DMC 3 was full of corny outrageous cutscenes(which I actually liked), but that certainly didn't stop it from being a fantastic game. And I wouldn't expect any different in 4 since it's being made by the same guy. The cutscenes are anything but trash, and I'd say actually add to the experience.

not that they're biased against X360 or anything. It's just they seem to put a lot of efforts to make people interested in all consoles, but somehow it seems their efforts is not working well for the ps3. (not convincing enough)

funny. I dont recall anyone thinking 1up was a joke back a few months ago when they said the Killzone 2 AI was bad after the Dev clearly stated it was in Pre alpha alpha phase.. Everyone on here was praising 1up back then.. What happened?

There is hope the Xbox 360 version will catch up, because they (1Up) noticed the same thing with the new Burnout Paradise. The PS3 version looked way better since it was the leading one. The Xbox 360 was sort of not good looking.

Fast forward to last week's podcast, and they now say they are pretty much identical. So hopefully with DMC4, it's the same story.

How would one version be better than the other:

Controls- no beacuse if they wanted to they could just use the same controls (unless well it uses teh motion)

Graphics- cmon not that impressive I dont see any difference

Dev Time- ok the ps3 is a harder system to build games on so you know well it prob wont see a difference, also capcom has experience with the 360 and makes good money there I don't see them doing a half ass job

Lol wasnt DMC 4 a ps3 exclusive in the first place? It was developed for ps3 in the first place, and then was ported to 360.

If a gamewas given even chances and equal attention during development for both consoles, then theps3 version would always look much worse. Ps3 development just needs more time.

They don't even show the 360 version so you can compare. IGN says something different from 1up. They said the differences are minimal. The 1up guy says the PS3 version has more crispness or something to that effect.
