Damn, they go really in depth as to how terrible this game is. The gameplay is terrible! There'sonly ONE point during the game whereyou do somethin different during the entire game and it's lame as well: you loop ropes around the legs of a big enemy and bring it down. Yep, a rehash of the Walker takedown from their Star Wars Rogue Squadron game.

Factor 5 always does good with TECHNICAL graphics (though not artistic cause Lair looks like absolute garbage), but they've alwys SUCKED at gameplay. This game looks like it's no different.

Rent this turkey at best. Wait for the next game.

That really sucks. Sorry to hear about it getting trashed... Factor 5 did good work on the Rogue Squadron series and this game certainly looked like it had potential.

Still, it would be wise to wait for the GS review before completely dismissing Lair

They didn't like it artistically at all either.

Apparently the dragons explode like blowing up a tank or car in GTA3. When asked, Factor 5 said in defense that this was because the dragons were filled with methane.

Lair looked terrible anyway. The graphics have been garbage since TGS 06 and it was clear it lacked any sort of innovation. They even used the same freakin' HUD as Rogue Squadron..

Everything pre-TGS actually looked really good. Only once Sony introduced the tilt stuff did it start sounding poor gameplay-wise. 1080p also seems to have contributed to its' downfall. They strived to get it running at that resolution, but in the end everything else just took a massive hit in the balls.

It is NOT the first of a kind. There was this xbox game that was really good, and the predesessor of which was on the n64 or something. Cant remeber the name tho, but i have been told it ownz.

And it doesnt have to be the first of a kind to be a bad game, and cos it was hyped AA a score of 7 is BAD.

Why is one-up trying to trash this game's visuals? Seriously, if you have trouble with the special effects or the visuals in this game, you're just being anal. The music's great, the draw distances are breathtaking, the water's excellent, the number of units onscreen is unprecedented. The game does so many things right that sitting here and saying "they explode like a car!" is the most ignorant and foolish criticism you can possibly spit out of your mouth.

Now, if you want to argue the gameplay is bad, that's a different thing entirely and anyone is open to criticize, as long as that's the case and they aren't just ragging on this game because it's the hip thing to do, now.

At any rate, I think it's time to give this game up.

Well they have to have a standard, they dont have to take a dump on the game.

Like gamespot, the only games they treat like that are the ones in 1.0-3.0 range.

Well, seriously, if you want to argue that the art style in this game is bad, you might as well roast Halo and Ninja Gaiden. Those games are hideous in terms of art direction. Like, to the point of being juvenile.

1Up is one publication in a sea of publications and while you may respect them, not everyone does. And while you may respect 1Up, I may respect IGN, I may respect Gamespot, I may respect everything BUT 1Up.

Plus, I find your comment especially ironic considering how people constantly trash critics, who I personally look towards for feedback on everything, from books to movies to games. Yup. 1UP is only being honest. We know this game isn't good, and it's not only 1UP dissing it. I'll still buy it, but this isn't the Gears of War graphics killer that the cows thought it would be.
