is every game that you play on the PSN on a dedicated server then. even private games with freindsdoobie1975

Only a midget's handful of games run on dedicated servers. RFoM, Warhawk...and?
Also, since launch the public has been screaming for a better XMB interface. Cross-game invites / messaging...these are basic features...
It's been a bloody year and instead of adding things people actually care about, Sony gives you...DivX support? Awesome.
If Honda was handing out free Accords, it doesn't make it better than a Ferrari.Blue-Sky
Actually, considering one aspect you look at when buying a car is miles per gallon and another is price, I would say money does come into play, and some would find the Accord better for them.
If Honda was handing out free Accords, it doesn't make it better than a Ferrari.Blue-Sky
Are you talking about the company or just the car in general. I'm sure if Honda was giving out free accords people would say its better then Ferrari just for the fact they are giving out free cars.
Anyways, PSN is close to live in a vague way. Yes if you get technical there are a lot advantages Live has but in reality the only thing PSN doesn't have to put bluntly is cross game invites and cross game messaging as far as online multiplayer goes. Of course cows will say "Bu...but...but.......dedicated servers with 40+ in ResistanCE!!!!!!" and lemmings will say "we have more people talking in our games plus its just better and your service just sucks and we got movies". In reality PSN isn't that better but the TC is totally wrong, I have XBL and I got on PSN quite often and PSN doesn't match liveor is better. One thing for sure PSN is the only other alternative to XBL on consoles since it kills WiiConnect24 (which is awful with no voice chat, friend codes, and a very small library of online multiplayer games).
I use both and PSN doesnt feel anywhere enar as solid and as good.
Some games have dedicated servers on PSN but most don't and some games on 360 give options for people with amazing connections to host dedicated. But with the dl speeds getting better all the time P2P is fine for32 or less players.
Fact is 95% of games I play on Live do not lag unless the game is badly optimised itself like PES or some random guy with a low end bb connection hosts a 16 player match.
But dedicated is a plus point and is one thing MS (imo) should offer with first party games like SOny does.
has anybody seen a pic of the PSN dedicated servers.... well here's 1

just wait!!! YAH!!!! !!! *guitar solo* !!!!
srsly! XBL was terrible when it was first released and its taken time to get where it is today. PSN is fine today as-well, there's no reason to call psn bad. its dam good. the actual big differences between xbl and psn arnt that amazing.
Having both services, I can argue that. It may be free, but its not better than Live.
PSN is great for a free service, but it is lacking compared to XBL, which is more than understandable, since XBL has had years to hone the service, and it is a premium service.

that's just Warhawk
If Honda was handing out free Accords, it doesn't make it better than a Ferrari.Blue-Sky
Umm....actually yes.
What happens when you want to go play Warhawk in a year and the community died? Then PSN took down the servers? How are you going to play?
Dedicated =/= Better
Good Net Coding = Better
Ya Ya I know Gears of War had horrible Net Coding I agree but guess what everyone played it! Hell i loved it. Xbox lives accessibility made it all the fun.
Can I just say that This Binary Universe is one of my favorite albums... that is all. ;)What happens when you want to go play Warhawk in a year and the community died? Then PSN took down the servers? How are you going to play?

Zing!
I use both psn and XBL daily both have good points and bad points.
PSN and XBL can only get better and add more features.
Ive not been let down by either service yet really.
The fact that PSN is free is a bonus tho.

Ok how about if Ford is giving away free Pintos, would that make the Pinto better than a Ferrari?

No, no, no.
Its more like: a glass of water please
Sony gives it for free, since its just normal water
Microsoft claims the ownership of the water and makes you pay for it. Must be better water, it costs money!
...
Having both systems, I will just say that with the Xbox 360 I feel more connected to other people, and with the PS3 i kind of feel alonegotenks123321Yeah. The voice chat is pretty pathetic. I was using the 360 to chat with my friends while I played Uncharted.
I prefer PSN too, simply because it's free and I don't think online gaming is worth paying for.SolidSnake35
I agree with this 100%. Online play should come with Xbox Live Silver membership - it should be standard. Microsoft can then sweeten up the offerings of Gold service if they want to, like exclusive downloadable content for example.
PSN is garbage right now - infact it doesn't have some of the basic functionality that the old version of Live had when it launched back in 2002.
Things I miss most on PSN ?
Most of that lot could be done in a few patches so I wish they would get their finger out. Although in principle I think charging for gaming online is wrong-I wouldn't mind paying a small sub for PSN if it was made better. I pay £34 a year for XBL and it's streets ahead.

Things I miss most on PSN ?
- Game invites
- Messaging
- Seeing what my mates are doing like what game they are on, what stage in that game, are they watching a movie or just on the media bar? Surpising how something so simple makes such a difference. It's also good for seeing what games are any good as when everyone is playing the same game it could be worth a look.
- Voice chat whilst in different games
- Access to my friend list when watching a movie.
- 1.If you put a movie on your downloads stop.
- 2.Achievements, purely out of noseyness to see how far people I know have got through games.
- 3.Xbox Live Marketplace. I don't like how Playstation store is set up, XBL marketplace is much better suited for joypads. PS Store is just a web page.
- Access to PSN through the web like we can access XBL on xbox.com. I can sit at my pc and check messages, see add/remove friends, see what people are doing in real time as if I was on my 360, compare achievements against another player. I can't access Marktplace but all the basics are there for me on the web.
- Cross platform gaming. Only Shadow Run offers this so far but I like the idea so I want to see more of it. Shame COD4 couldn't do it.
RocKtheCasbaH
1. I would like my downloads going on during movies.
2. Home will have trophies, they are like acheivements
3. You dont like it, but it still works
4. I dont like cross platform gaming, it always feels like the people on the computers have the advantage, and people with a computer could get those games even if they have a PS3.
Also, Sony is new to all of this, and they cant copy Xbox exactly due to copyright issues.
PSN is garbage.heretrix
really? do you have both systems that you can compare them jack@$$? i have a PS3 and 360 - PS3 has virtually no lag online, has features that almost match 360, and is free. what 360 has that i like better: i can talk to people that are not in the same game as me, cross game invites, and acheivements. what PS3 has that I like better: virtually no lag, very user-friendly XMB interface, tons of customizibility (if that's a word lol)for FREE, plus Home, which is 100% FREE. and don't even try to say "it's gonna suck cuz it's free" cuz i played a private beta and it ROX. don't even try to suck up to Money$oft you 360 fanboy. p.s. i'm not a fanboy cuz i got BOTH systems.
PSN is FREE:) it allows MULTIPLE tags for FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
for 360 each tag is $$$$ if you want to play online. This feature is great for PS3, as it allows you to practice online with one tag, then use a different tag to come back latter and easy rank up faster with more points.

Yes I do.....I couldn't play the excellent Uncharted otherwise...:| I have a 40 gig PS3....

It's weird how you call me a fanboy, yet you are the one acting like one. I'm not interested in home at all. As of now PSN is garbage, will it change? Maybe, but it's my opinion, ease up dude.

I understand that...so whats your point? PDZ had 32 players.
More players doesn't make the game better, if thats your defense its not a good one.
Halo is insane enough with 16 players, 40 would bea mess. Gears I don't even care about cause I don't like the multiplayer regardless if it was 8 or 40 players. I do love the co-op
its nice to play with so many, I enjoyed playing battefield on the PC with 40+ players, but guess what? I enjoyed it more on the 360.
