I work at Circuit City, and I recently noticed that the pricetag in the system for the 20Gb PS3 was $499.95. Furthermore, we haven't gotten a single 20Gb unit in since launch.

Hmm... thats kinda crappy if they did imo. I mean i want a PS3, but i do NOT want too spend 600 plus money on a game. That is just kind of ridculous imo.

I don't think they are discontinued. Sony apparently loses more on the 20 gigs and the gamers willing to buy one now want the best of everything and the 60 gig anyway (minus a few like yourself of course). Sony would also like to sell more 60 gigs to the hardcore crowd so they will have enough space to download all of their junk(i mean stuff).
I would expect them to increase the number of the 20 gigs a little towards the end of this year when price really starts to become a barrier to entry for a lot people who are interested.

I heard that most retailers stop asking for the 20 gig since most consumers would willingly spend another $100 for 40 more GB. It makes more sense afterall. So I thought the 20 gig was discontinued. But Sony hasn't announced anything about it.

Yea this article actually sums up this thread pretty good :P but yea it looks like the 20 gig is being discontinued.
Also just a side note my brother got a 20 gig at first and his HDMI port never worked on it, I know this is only one case but could it be related to hardware failures in 20 gigs maybe ? or just trying to create a standard with the 60 gig ?

No biggy. Ah, don't forget with the 60g PS3, it has that chrome finish look to it. It really makes a 360 or Wii look like some sort of dvd player or something. It just stands out from the other two consoles in terms of looks.
so does this mean that Cows can stop saying PS3 is only $100 more then 360? I have saw 1 20 gig PS3 before Christmas and not ever PS3 ive seen (target, kmart, sears, walmart, BB, GS, EB, ETC) have been 60g versions.
