Sony? Microsoft? Nintendo?
I think over the past few years there has been a kind of clear "winner" as in which big company had the best overall year.
2005 - Microsoft released the Xbox 360 and there was all the hype before it and yadda-yadda.
- Sony continued pressing on with the Playstation 2 and did very well for so late in its lifespan. They also began properly hyping the PS3.
- Nintendo didn't really do very much. They unveiled the long awaited "Revolution" controller, and shocked and surprised many, overall an uneventful year outside of the DS.
My rankings for 2005:
1. Microsoft
2. Sony
3. Nintendo
2006 - Microsoft launched Gears of War as a hard hitter, and there were a couple of other games riddled in there, but nothing major.
-Sony in my opinion didn't have a great year, compared to the other two anyway. However, there were a couple of major announcements, and the release of the PS3 was obviously a good thing for them.
-Nintendo had a very very good year last year. The information about up and coming games plus announcements about everything the Wii has in Channels sparked interest everywhere. And to top it all off the DS was creaming the PSP.
My rankings for 2006:
1. Nintendo
2. Microsoft
3. Sony
2007 -
Now this year could be interesting. Nintendo have their line up of brilliant games. Microsoft don't appear to have very much, and Sony have Home.
What do you guys think will happen this year? And what do you think of my rankings? Fair? Unfair?
I guess we'll find more out at E3.
