To me gaming is like music and movies, it all just entertainment, the more ps3 has the more people it appeals to and as the price gets lower the more it will sellPaddy345
Frankly I think that Sony's biggest failure with the PS3, as with the PSP, is that they forgot that it's supposed to be a GAME machine first and so they are obsessed with throwing all this extra multi-media crap in the package that people aren't quite ready to embrace yet.
I don't care about an HD player until somebody wins the format war. I don't need my game machine to record or play TV shows. I don't need my game machine to act as a half-arsed MP3 player. Until you can include that stuff without charging me extra for it and have it all work seamlessly...leave it out and focus on the games.

Yes but the exclusives that are coming are gonna be great for 2008 so they are bringing out great games
Home which will be the reason why microsoft will have to make Live free to compete..Paddy345
Home will be insignificant and Live will continue to be a service that people will pay for.People who believe that Home will be anything more than a mild ripple in the online gaming pond are going to be severely disappointed.
"sony stated that 07 was a hardware year and big software were for 08"
If Sony stated that 07 was a hardware year then why would you trust anything they say again. Their hardware has sold miserably all year long.
Thank you for giving some reason why you think the PS3 win in 2008 instead of the fanboy arguement "because the PS3 is the best". I disagree with you but that my next point.
I own both system so i want both of them to do well. The PS3 does look like it going to have a strong year in 2008 but it better have a strong year considering that most of the big2007 games been pushed to 2008.
I think that the PS3 is going to find a boost in sales in 2008 but i still don't think it going to be enough to catch up with the 360.
Some of the PS3 games are big risks and not all of them are going to pay off. People keep on going on about MGS4, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet etc but these games are big risks. Out of a userbase of over 100 million MGS3 sold approx 3.5 - 4 million. That is a really low attach rate for a game. I know the attach rate for MGS4 should be alot higher because of the hype but the question is how much higher. Some people just don't like stealth games. Killzone is the same story. They failed with the first one so that doesn't give them a really good start for the second. Little Big Planet is a game alot different than people are used to playing. How many people would be willing to spend their money on this game is still to be seen. All of these games could turn out to be AAA or they could be flops my point is no one know and no big game is a guarentee.
In my opinion. At the moment the 360 is the best console because it has the best selection of games to play but we just have to see how 2008 turns out.

Well, then, it sounds like you got the right system then!!! To ME, gaming is about GAMES. Thats why I went with the 360. So, my question to you is how long are you going to have to wait to get a stable of games anywhere close to the 360?

Yea i know who would wanna go to cinema in home and watch full high def movie so you don't have to worry about missing a part if you have to go to toilet, who wants to share high def music and movies with their friends and have ability to go to someones apartment and watch a full movie or jump into a game, who would want to purchase online content on home such as downloadable music and movies and who would want to play thousands of the greatest arcadegames of all timeALL FOR FREE
The '08 releases come after a slew of '07 releases. The holiday season has traditional been a moneymaker for all retailers and since the majority, of americans atleast, rely on credit to make the majority of purchases there will be a lack of funding available for early '08 games. I see the '08 lineup for Sony's system as too little too late. The time and sales lost won't be recouped. The emphasis on BluRay was made too early to really be beneficial as a Home Theater stand-in. Early Adopters of BluRay will go with the real thing. Music is not an area that a console should compete in. Not only does it require the console and a larger power supply, but you also need a TV. Apple has the music game pretty much bundled up. As far as the free view option. It has been known that this is a coming standard. The netflicks subscriptions have been doing well, but OnDemand is the real innovator and PS3 can't claim to have something new with this feature. It will have to offer something else to get a leg up in this area.
It all points to my previous statement of "Too little, too late". PS3 is too slow to read and react to the changing markets and although it will still be a player, it won't be the one that everyone is raving about this gen.
Look at the software coming out for 2008 for ps3, Home which will be the reason why microsoft will have to make Live free to compete.Mgs4, Final fantasy, gran turismo, getaway2, god of war 3, killzone 2, La Noir, 8 days and many more. Also sony are adding free view in ps3 in early 2008 which is very big in europe and you can watch shows and movies in high def and record them, also music and blu ray movie downloads. feel free to add more stuff in i forgot. Also if you believe 2008 will belong to 360 feel free to add and also if you think wii aswell, i wanna here your opinions. The reason why i edged towards ps3 cause it aims to centralise gaming, music and movies into one box and 2008 looks like a year this will all happen, sony stated that 07 was a hardware year and big software were for 08.Paddy345
When was God oF War3 confirmed for 2008?????. Anyways, Ps3 does have some nice games coming out in 2008 but so does MS.

At least XBL is proven itself.People can hate all they want, but it is the best console online service out there, subscription or otherwise.
