2008 Football games to run faster on 360. EA & 2K!!

seriously though, this is pretty damning seeing it's coming from both EA and 2K sports. apparently the PS3 just can't handle 60 fps with it's smaller GPU cache / memory.

of course it matters. everybody was thinking the PS3 had more potential and month after month that's proven to just not be true. if anything it appears the 360 has more potential at this point.

i'd love to be proven wrong seeing i own all 3 consoles - but it ain't looking good, and this more or less proves it isn't just bad devs doing sloppy ports, BOTH EA and 2K are having their PS3 versions locked at 30fps.

Hasn't the Xbox fanbase traditionally been the one to claim that the human eye can't tell the difference between 30fps and 60fps? I remember that argument on a lot of forums when it came to Forza vs Gran Turismo, or Halo vs any PC FPS.

Still I guess that hypocrisy can't change the facts. I don't buy sports games but if I did I would certainly buy the 360 versions.

FYI: Xbox fans didn't have to defend Forza. Its AAA score (and GT4's AA score)was all the defense it needed.

Wow just wow. I didn't realize it was the same story with both football games. PS3 is SEVERELY underpowered in comparison to its $200 less competition. OWCH. Does this indeed prove that 360 is in fact TWICE as powerful? (last time I checked 30 times 2 was 60)

Having seen you post before I doubt anyone will be able to change your mind or explain it so you are willing to understand, but have you ever seen the difference in a game running at 30 and 60 FPS? If the answer is yes then I'm sure you'll be able to understand the difference, if no then you probably won't realise what its about.

No, just flat out NO! 30fps is fine for games like Gears of War, Rainbow Six, or Madden. These games are slow moving games--which means that added framerate will be very difficult to notice, if at all. 60fps is important in games like Devil May Cry, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden--due to the fast past action and heavy demands for persice movements at very rapid speeds. Hmmm, isn't Ninja Gaiden Sigma locked at 60fps--boy it seems to me that the PS3 is more than capable. Perhaps the devs are lazy, or maybe they just have not had enough time to work on the hardware yet to lock Madden at 60fps.

You do realize that the first several Maddens ran at 30fps--now the newest one will be at 60fps. Could it be that they are becoming more familiar with the hardware, and that they are just not there yet with the newness of the PS3? Please check your fanboyism at the door, as this whole thread is filled with many flaws.

The bottom line is that that PS3 is a new system and is difficult to develop for. It will take some time to iron out the kinks and get familiar with the hardware. The devs cannot master these systems in three days. Look at the 360--they are still just coming to grips with that (as this is their first Madden to run at 60fps)and it is approaching its two year anniversery. Advances on any system does not happen overnight...so get over yourselves and quit bashing something with arguments that don't hold water.

They said MS was about the best you can come at this. Easy to program, great assistance they got and everything, they were able to go to MS and see it first hand and everything while learning.

No, NO! Your trying to say the little animations like when you catch a ball and get stuck in the animation, won't make a difference whether its 30FPS or 60? No, it just means the dev's don't know how to program as well for the PS3 as they do for the 360 right now (from both EA and 2K). I suspect they'll eventually catch on to the (hopefully). On that point though,coming from a PS3 fan, I do think Sony needs to kick in a little more to help these 3rd party folks get up to speed.

Well when it comes review time I bet ALL the review sites and publications will site that the 360 one just looks better..if you do play it side by side you will find the difference betweem 60fps and 30fps is painfully obvious...

Lems will claim ownage.....Cows will do damage control ("just give the PS3 more time"..."crappy port"..."third iteration of Madden on the 360")...the fact of the matter is that the RAM GPU config is what kills the PS3 in terms of framerate.

I have been saying it since day one.

When you run the PS3 version of Madden and All Pro up against the 360 version side by side...YOU WILL notice a difference...its not mind blowing but you will notice it.

Does anyone know if there are any other differences besides the fps factor? I noticed in the gamespot comparison of Madden that PS3 had sharper jersey textures than the 360 version. I was planning to get the PS3 version for the 1080p hdmi output, but now it doesn't seem worth it. I hate how EA cut corners like this. They make enough money off of this franchise to create 5 games completely from scratch, but they resort to cheap ports on the cell processor. Freakin greedy EA!
