In 2010 it is doubtful that MS will launch a new console. BUT they will not wait to give Sony time to launch theirs next gen console. Still not much more can be cut out of Xobx 360 mid lvl console unless it goes to 199.00 and arcade goes to 99.00 and not lose money on sales of the consoles. I give it to 2011 at the latest. Sure they may hint at a 2012 release but, the hit to the Xbox 360 with Natal... It would be better to launch a more powerful console that includes Natal if that is the direction that they are going.

Sony can take a little more time. They want to make as much money from the console as possible. Seeing the number of consoles out there and the amount of games saleing per cosole is sad. The Xbox 360 sold 35+ Million consolesAfter 4 years and the higest selling game was Halo3 selling more than 8.1 Million True that is from 2008 but I have not found NE sales #'s from 2009 You'd think that MS would be crowing from the tops of roofs their numbers but NOOOOooo. Sony is not doing any better. ... Compare Xbx/PS3 to PS2 console sales, and PS2 games sales!! BIG DIFFERENCE!!

But for MS it is not making a lot of money from games that is their goal. NO!! MS would like to make sure that the PS brand does not give rise to their domination of the PC market. Thus as long as they stay in front in sales and Wii poses no treat they will be fine. They can launch console after console not selling many games or consoles and they could care less, as long as they are not losing tons of money. Just like with the browser war with Netscape.

Sony may want to not be a year behind but with the new price drop bring up sales, they will want to wait. Their next console will include both a Natal like ability and their tracking ball ability and their gyro tech. along with other tech they have develped. With the Cell being more understood I can imangine 2-3 included in the next machine, add some moreRam, maybe 1 to 2GB and an updated RSX GPU.

I wouldn't mind getting some initial specs at E3 2010, but I really don't want to see new consoles hitting the shelves til holiday 2011 at the earliest.

personally I could wait a lot longer than that before people come out with more consoles and I have to drop several hundred dollars from my wallet so I can keep my habit up.

2010-12 will be the dawn of the motion control battle to extend the life of the consoles, then in mid-late 2012 I think we'll see the next-gen pop out.

To answer for myself... no. 360 and ps3 still have a lot of life left in them. For me it feels it's only mid gen for them haha! I've been a 360 owner since launch in 2005 and even though 2010 is around the corner I still feel we have at least two years life left in these consoles. 2005-2012. 7 might be a bit of a stretch. But new consoles coming in 2011 would not surprise me.

I think the Wii will be more overdue for a console then 360 and Ps3 though. Wii can't handle the physics and processing power for today's greatest gameplay. Say all you want that gaming is not about the graphics but the Wii can't handle physics intensive games like Forza 3.

If any system comes out before 2012, I will simply ignore it. I am not ready for a new generation, including the massive expenditure of cash on new hardware. The systems can provide me the caliber of game that I want, and I see no reason for more powerful hardware anytime soon.

We haven't had a single excellent JRPG. No, this is just the beginning. I want this gen to end at least after Final Fantasy XV has been released. Simply put, not enough great games have been released yet. We need more time.

They will be, imo right now the ps brand is too strong for them to launch at the same time and have a chance to win. I predict 2011 too, for both the Wii 2 and 720 (but the natal 360 might delay it because it would be stupid to launch a 'new' console 2 years in a row) and then maybe 2012 for the ps4.

I dont even know who I would go with first when the next-gen starts... the last two gens were obvious launch picks for me, but next gen is going to be tricky.. especially because I have no idea how Nintendo will handle hardware.. and I dont want to lose all my VC games:P

One word: NO. Here's why: Wii: I don't think Nintendo wants to mess over their "fans" and release a new console. Besides, they are making crazy money and it's still selling like crazy. Xbox 360: Lots of good 1st party and 3rd party games coming out next year (halo, fable, conviction) so they don't want to spend money and time developing a new console and set release games. Also, Natal is coming out next year so they would most likely support that more than just making a new console. PS3: Basically the same things as XBOX 360 with the games and wand coming out. Also, they probably want to make atleast some money from the consoles they sell and want to keep selling.

They're a different genre and have always been considered and categorized as such. Idk why people are mixing them up this gen.

Their a different sub genre from turn based, but it doesn't mean they aren't JRPGs.. That's pretty much saying action RPGs like Monster Hunter, Kingdom Hearts, and some Final Fantasy games aren't JRPGs also.

Yeah,

its the better one of the whole series. People complaining about the voicework have probably never played a Star Ocean game before. If they did, they should know the voice work isn't really gonna be that good.

Tales of Vesperia was the best one i've played since Tales of Eternia (jp). Its well directed tbh

[QUOTE="-RocBoys9489-"]Honestly, I want the next gen to start in 2011, that'll be 6 years after the 360 has launched.xbox360isgr8t
how about no. i dont want it to start so soon. I definitely dont want ms to be the first one out again either.

Coming out first has helped MS out a lot this gen. I do not think that MS will wait and launch at the same time that Sony will. Thus they will have to get ready and predict when Sony will launch and launch first again at least 1 year before Sony does!!

That will be hard as when they get the console ready the tech will quickly age. They can not come out with a ready console and wait, hoping that it will be competive to what Sony has.

Therefore, MS needs to design a console test it, and launch it in a timeline which they already have!!! I do not see them waiting for any reason. Saying that their plans are pushed back is just a distraction. after a while as PS3 prices drops again before 2011 and sales continue to grow MS will have to counter with a new console.

2011 is 6 years and they can still sell the xbox 360.

2010-12 will be the dawn of the motion control battle to extend the life of the consoles, then in mid-late 2012 I think we'll see the next-gen pop out.

When this happens is when I will save thousands of $$$..That is when I play nothing new again. UNLESS you can put a helmet on and be emersed in another world .Bring that on and I will be ok. BUT if its just more Wii controls..never mind. I have a Wii and its fine and dandy..BUT its nothing I want nextgen.

5 YEARS is the normal cycle for consoles. Xbox came out in 2005 and thus if it launches a new console in November of 2010 then it is not launching early. Xbox 360 will still be on sale, for how much longer??? is anyones guess!!

Thus a 2011 is launching a year later something like what the PS2 did and though it is still selling many people though that Sony should have launched their PS3 at 5 years to compete!!

And regardless of its short cycle of 4 years that XBOX had Xbox 360 is selling more than PS3 so the argument of waiting longer than 5 years is mute as the facts support a 5 year cycle and not a longer one!!!!

I doubt these facts will be lost to MS and we shall see soon enough when they launch their console.. I doubt though that there will be a long anouncement but a reather short one.. after E3 of the same year.

As much as I don't want a new console just yet, I feel like the time is coming. Or not. Depends. I'd like to have better hardware in my consoles, and with the technology available now, I'd say consoles may finally be on par with PC graphics since I don't think graphics are going to get much better for a little while. How cheap do you think Quad Cores will be in the next coming years?
