Ok people. 2009 is almost among us but where is the support going from developers? Will it be to the Wii due to cheap development costs. |Will it be 360/ps3 combo for the so called wider attatch rate? Will it be 360 alone or PS3? Support is support so please dont bring petty arguments like "Shovelware" or "developers suck" as overall support is support.

This post is mainly on about support and not quality as quality is a opinion and nothing is certain in 09.

As it stands now Wii is getting the most support but most of it is from alot of unkown developers. I think this will continue into 2009.

I'd imagine the 360 is still going to get the brunt of developers attention, with the Wii getting a lot more "Serious" attention next year with the Ps3 getting multiplats and not much more.

If you talk about which console gets most games released on it I can see the Wii get that but if you are talking about quality games I think the PS3 and 360 with all the multiplats.

We'll probably see twice as many third party games released on the Wii than the 360/ps3.

Wii is getting the most third party exclusives by far, and the best as well. But overall I still think multiplatform development will have the edge (PC/PS3/360) and of course DS development

DS development is through the roof. Its sad to see that PSP is not as welcome by developers as i'd grab one right now if there where more RPG's.

western developers virtually gave up on that failure machine, but a few japanese devs are supporting it.

Hmmmm.... i honestly don't know. I think that current treds wil continue with the wii getting the greatest volume of games but the ps3/360/PC getting the better ones. Everyone is always going on about how good the wii's library WILL be but it all seems pretty vauge.

wii will never be the lead platform for 3rd party dev because its too different compare to the ps360. its a family oriented console it is not a console for the hardcore gamer and it will not get hardcore games .

I can see the Wii's developer support jumping up. Although, allot of good games on the Wii don't sell well. I personally think the 360 will stay with the most developer support simply because it can move the most software. PS3 will probably stay where it is now, at least judging from how well some of it's big hitters are selling.

How well did NMH and CoD WaW sell on wii? that should indicate how the devs may regard their chances of actually shifting a GOOD non nintendo game.

i think the big guys (like EA and activision) are going to keep it pretty even in terms of support. i think there going to try and include the wii in PS3, PC and 360 projects as much as possible. i dont think the wii will recieve any special treatment from them though in terms of major exclusives (bar a few exceptions....we might see a GTa4 stories type game for the wii for example). however i see alot of smaller devs and possibly new upstarts taking a shot at it with the wii and PC instead of just the PC (alot of it through wiiware).

I think the PS3 is getting the most next year with all of its top games coming out and price drop aiming for April the 360 i think seems to be drying up with software for next year cant really see anything that exclusive worth buying for it in 2009 and the wii third party support i have never liked and just think its a wasted effort so i say PS3 plus a vote would have been nice for this with such a question

I think Wii will get more support in 2009, but we will still see a lot of 'big named' titles coming to PS3/360, with a few exclusives here and there for the PS3 or 360.

it's getting tons of shovelware... wii fans are hyping up all these obscure games from japanese and american devs which have done Shovelware, but are now trying real genres, such as survival horror, but what they don't understand is that you can have shovelware in real genre's too... which is what the wii will get. NMH will remain the only AAA third party game for wii through all of 2009, or i will go out and buy 15 50$ games for the wii.

Apparently it's a 12-15 year old kid that wears black t-shirts, drinks coke, is over weight and only plays rated M third and first person shooters with lots of blood and gore.

IMO there is no such thing as a hardcore gamer, just a person who perceives themselves to be elitist.

little kings story is made by people who've made KH and FF, other 3rd party sure fire good exclusives are fatal frame IV, dragon quest 10 (in 2010), monster hunter 3, and madworld (from creators of okami, DMC), deadley creatures, arc rise fantasia ( a good looking jrpg), the next main tales of game is on Wii in 2009, 2 new final fantasy games i think you're referring to the conduit, and HVS made shovelware i think but also they made the hunter plz look up real 3rd party wii games b4 u diss them and realise that if they don't sound cool to you, they're looking awesome to us on topic i think Wii will break away in 2009, it will get alot of highly rated exclusives, these big baby hardcores will come around and enjoy it like it was any other console. i think Wii will get another killer 3rd party exclusive for 2010 like a KH, not that in particular though ps3 will still get ports, 360 will have good multiplats but less 3rd party exclusives

examples are, the conduit, deadly creatures, cursed mountain etc.

there are may more, which were hyped throughout last year, but i can't find any of the threads.

I doubt support will go to the Wii. The Wii is targeted towards an almost entirely different market than the Xbox 360 and PS3.

I'm just wondering why a company like Konami would settle for an exclusivity deal with Sony for Metal Gear Solid 4? There's no deal possible that Sony can provide that would be better than a normal deal with Microsoft since system sales for the Xbox 360 are many times more than the PS3.

Shouldn't this thread be "where is the highest quality support actually going in 2009"?

Because, and I hope I'm not alone in thinking this,I would rather have 10 or so great games come out on the console that I own rather than having 50 games of dubious quality.

Of course, but the more games you release, the bigger chance there is that one of them will be a+++.

I just hope it is a jolly good year for all platforms.

Although I do hope that next-gen of consoles do NOT use stupid proprietary game development toolkits, and that they all be as easy to develop on as PC's :). Developers would avoid so much pain and hassle.
