In this exclusive report, we talk to Screen Digest's Ed Barton, whose latest research has found that publishers will see an "increasingly difficult environment" for making returns on next-gen investments, and claimed that PlayStation 3 will hold the largest market share by 2010, with the Wii a distant third.

#1 - Nintendo used to have no worthy competitors. #2 - We are not talking about handhelds.

True for the Nes but the Snes had some stiff competiton.  In the end the Snes won but it was neck and neck until the last year or so.

a smiley face is not an answer. Name a single company who brought something out that came anything close to the snes or nes.

dont blame public schools, the graph is simple notice how the PS3 bar takes up more of the whole bar. its cause it hold more of the percentage. than the other 2 in the full 100% Bar. basically its a market lead percentage thing. i used to see them done more vertical than horizontal but its still the same. but i dont agree with these statements. the wii will do really well here and japan. second this gen its actually a 3 horse race cause sony fumbled bad because of tha high price point and all that negative attention they are getting.

Analysts are just people who went to college in order to learn that statistic trends and number crunching outweigh logic. That data seem utterly assinine.

This graph is as old as the hills. The explanation doesn't quite match the figures: "increasingly difficult environment" for making returns on next-gen investments? Wouldn't that make the PS3 dead last, seeing as its the most expensive console to develop for, and thus making returns would be that much more difficult?

Well wouldn't a bar graph have worked much better? The main part that confused me was the percentage....

I actually do agree that the X-Axis structure on that graph is very illogical. The data doesn't match up to the corresponding percentage values. It makes sense, but it's a poorly arranged graph.

Then boast about it when it happens because right now the Wii is killing the PS3 in sales. That's a fact not a prediction.

Wii absoutley killed all other consoles in sales for january and there's hardly even any games for it.

Nintendo is beating other consoles with people playing games that were made 20 years ago (VC)

Point is not all public schools are the same. If you learned this in yours fine, but I didn't learn it in mine. I retract my statement and don't blame it on public schools; I blame it on my public school.

2010 is a very long time from now. 3 years can make a huge difference. Just ask yourselves what you were doing in 2004.
