Just noticed that Alpha Protocol is the latest game that was initially gonna release October 6th, then pushed back to the 27th now i'ts pushed back to an unknown date in 2010.
seriously...
2010 may be a wonderful for gamers but that year will be one terrible business plan for them.
seriously...
- God of War 3
- Mario Galaxy 2
- Metroid : Other M
- Mass Effect 2
- Heavy Rain: Origami Killer
- MAG
- Bioshock 2
- White Knight Chronicles
- Halo Reach
- Final Fantasy 13
- Metal Gear Solid : Peace Walker
- Pokermon Soul Silver/HeartGold
- StarCraft 2
- new WOW Cataclysm
- Star Wars Old Republic
- Final Fantasy 14
- DC Universe
- The Agency
i'm not writing all of these out...
point is, ther are way too many possible AA-AAA titles to be jam.
and i mean this on all gaming platforms, whether you only a PC, a DS, a Wii or PS3/360.
I'm seriously starting to think that 2010 will see way too many titles fall into 2011. Also problem is many of those titles people have been waiting for - for years! I'm talking final Fantasy 13, Gran Turismo 5, God of War 3, Heavy Rain: Origami Killer, Mass Effect 2, Star Craft 2, etc.
Wii owners have clamoring for a new flagship game, and they're set for 3 (Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid: Other M, Zelda Wii).
360 owners have their steller exclusives like Halo Reach, and console exclusives like Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell and the long awaited Alan Wake.
I think 2010 is gonna either be the sink or swim time for these game developers, and from my point of view we WILL see more delays in Q1 2010, there are way too many big named games scheduled for that time. (God of War 3, Bioshock 2, Dante's Inferno is anticipated, possibly Gran Turismo 5) plus toss in MAG, Heavy Rain and White Knight, Bayonetta and the others?
no way.
If they do stick to their release dates, and i can pretty much guarantee that they won't, they'll have to rely on the slow-burn. too many highly anticipated games and too many of them are very well executed.
Anyone elses thoughts out there?
