Firstly keep in mind games like dead space and killzone are already released...this TC is about future titles

Alien shootersthis year look great with Conduit 2, Gears of War 3, Resistance 3, and Crysis 2. Alien shooters usually stand out from military shooters because of their grandiose scifi feel, their implementing of unique technology, and their complex, many times incomprehensible storylines

On the military shooter side, we basically have Homefront, Battlefield 3, and the new Call of Duty. It may be hard to judge the COD game without details, but theres at least a fifty percent chance it will be pretty much a carbon copy of the other COD games but with new things to explode. The other two are looking to be fantastic, however.

Finally, there are theshooter hybrids, games that have guns but are also a mix of different genres. . Here we have basically Mass Effect 3, Brink, Rage, and Uncharted 3. These are some incredible titles!

So I am sure most of you will be considering titles from all three categories , but which side are you leaning towardsMORE this year????

(PS hopefully i didnt miss something huge, so if i did let me know)

No doubt the genre needs some fresh scenarios.

No doubt, thats true..... i think all three of the shooter types though are trying hard to bring innovation, certain developers more than others. RPG shooters are usually the most unique, but the new city setting of battlefield 3 and the armor abilities of Crysis 2 are pretty darn good attempts to add some new flavors to the shooter crockpot.

To be fair alien does not only mean outer space. I choose military in any case.

...........its on another planet...........with aliens...........nuff said. If you want to get extremley technical, the humans are the aliens on the planet, yea i know. But seriously, just stop it lol.....you know very well it involves fighting creatures from a planet other than Earth!!

I go by game, not by sub-genre.

And in that sense, it's basically DNF, RAGE, and Gears 3 for me this year.

Battlefield 3 makes me say Military, but if it wasnt for that, I would easily say its the worst. Crysis 2 also looks great, but nothing beats BF3.

Aren't "alien" shooters almost always a hybrid? Between, you know, the modern military shooter and the sci-fi shooter I'd go sci-fi. You at least get more varying interpretations. Halo, Half-Life and Gears of War don't exactly blend together. Medal of Honor, Call of Duty and Battlefield on the other hand...

The one you left out. The Cyberpunk RPG Shooter, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Nothing else matters.

I agree with Sniper. Some fantastic shooter offerings this year that aren't named Call of Duty. Pretty stoked.

I dig sci fi and military shooters. As long as the game looks like something I'll have fun with, then that is all that really matters to me.

I don't know about other people, but by far the Space Nazi Helghasts are the coolest looking bad-doers to shoot at for now. But my most anticipated shooter of the year is the new Ghost Recon (UC3 kinda on the same line with Killzone 3). I guess I will buy Mass Effect 3, but I haven't beaten the first one yet...

I'm going for hybrids. If the industry is in desperate need of anything its new types of games.
