2012 is the weakest year in gaming ever.

Q4 looks awesome, but so far, I can only name three games which have been worthy purchases so far for 2012:

1. Legend of Grimrock

2. The Walking Dead

3. Mass Effect 3 (despite ending issues)

What happened? There hasn't been very many games worth purchasing this year (mind you, I did purchase a few older titles as well).

I'm sure Q4 will iron out the drought, but I'm surprised by the lack of must-have games so far this year.

meh, the 360 turns 7 this year and the ps3 will be six.

what do you guys expect? nothing stays around forever. (but this gen feels that way)

I don't see why everyone here is crying about 2012's line up, why can't you pick up a game thats already out? I know you haven't played all the games on the market.

Retail wise it's a barren (worse than 2009 and 2007) but DD is thriving with some very great games.

I have bought some games from previous years as well. Mini Ninjas, Kingdoms of Amalur, and Alan Wake were some purchases released in previous years that I've made.

That said, I do need to buy American Nightmare once it's on sale on Steam...

Agreed. At least Q4 looks like a good spark but that's Q4, the LAST quarter of the year. In 2011 the spark started in Q1 and just kept getting hotter and hotter.

Yeah but I think it's a little too hot which could be a downfall in itself but I'll have to wait and see before making judgement.

I agree that it's been aweak year so far but there's some solid titles in the coming months. Not the best year ever but not the worst. 2013 is looking good though.

Really weak year thus far, but what do you expect? New consoles are coming soon.

Trials Evolution, FEZ, The Witcher 2, Max Payne 3, and Mass Effect 3, and Silent Hill HD collection is already out and I enjoyed them. And with Darksiders 2, Halo 4, Assassin's Creed 3, and Resident Evil 6 still slated for this year, I think it'll be an ok year, but every year before it was definitley better when it comes to this gen.

No...the problem is rather weird is all I can say. It starts up fine (although rather slow...).

However, once I get to the main menu is when I'm having problems.

I suggest you widen your appeal to games if you think that's all 2012 has.

So far I've enjoyed (I'm not implying these games are 10/10 zomg wicked awesome games, just they are fun)

Uh, no. Not anywhere close to it. It's gonna turn out to be the best year yet.

Good year to get through my backlog. I think Rayman Origins or Vanquish is next for me.

Yeah thankfully this is a backlog year at least...

I haven't really felt it being weak. Hasn't been phenomanal but so far I'm fine. Ghost Recon:FS has kept me going so far

The gen is over, I don't expect much different. At least being PC-centered, I have no shortage of things to get.

I'm really pumped for Borderlands 2, I've also been trying to force myself through Assassins Creed 2 because 3 is looking awesome.

I really enjoyed Fall of the Samurai and Diablo 3 and will probably pick up Civ5: G&K and Sins: Rebellion at some point.

Halo 4 is looking good as well.
