@Sonicplys: sea of thieves is more ambitious than both. Hell horizon zero dawn is more interesting. They still look good though good time to be playing games.

I do have lots of faith in both. Definitely more interested in Zelda at the moment.

Too soon to say, but Zelda BOTW has the highest chance at this point.

I mean based on the trailer I don't expect a whole lot from the Mario game, it looked pretty lame and having a boring pseudo-realistic city to bounce around in didn't leave me with a good impression.

BotW has way more of my attention right now.

Been playing FPS in my lifetime and has not seen any FPS like this in last 10 years. basically mix of System shock and Half life. with very unique enemies types.

I dont think there will be any game that will match this this year.

Sonic Mania (though that's going to be GOTG barring sequels), but Zelda has #2 on lock down.

Bit worried about that one, it's made by Ubisoft studio, not by Obsidian like the first game. Still might be good as the concept is there already.

For now, I'd say it's between Zelda: BotW and Super Mario Odyssey, yes.

Odyssey looks like a pretty open Mario. The second last time that happened we got one of the best games ever created - Mario 64.

I am really interested to see how this new Zelda plays out as I have never even played Zelda before. But it gets so much attention.

Neither of those. RDR 2, Horizon, Persona 5, Mass Effect and South Park will be the contenders. If Kingdom Hearts 3, God of War or Spiderman make it out this year then you can add those.

How many flops we had this gen based on hype alone?

As much as I love Shenmue, there's no way 3 will win much of anything considering the game has a small budget and can't compete with AAA games. I'd love to see it happen though, but it'll most likely be overlooked by the gaming media.

At the minute RDR2 and ME:A are my clear leaders but plenty of other contenders to put their oar in still.

Critically, I think Zelda probably has the best chance of being the Game of the Year.

Personally, while I'm definitely looking forward to both Zelda and Mario as well, I anticipate my personal Game of the Year being Sea of Thieves.

except spiderman will release on PS4 unlike scalebound and crackdown 3.

beside i dont think it will be good. superhero games always suck that is not batman arkham (only first 2. knights and origins suck).

Scalebound was canceled and was only for Xbox One. PS4 wasn't getting it. Also, Crackdown 3 is exclusive to Xbox for this year, not coming to PS4.
