You would be lucky to play it 10 years from now by the way things are sounding.

Better yet join the light side of the force and get the PS4 and don't worry about the bs. I can play my NES now like I could the day I got it. I will be able to play my PS4 25 years from now as well. If your original quits working there will be plenty of refurbished consoles to buy from just about anywhere... or you can pay a premium and get a brand new one still.. I could buy a brand new NES right now if I wanted too... It would work like it was intended to on day one... why should things change?

Porbably not and no one gives a damn, it's your own fault if you buy a Xbone anyway.

25 years from now we will be under a dystopian regime wherein all forms of entertainment and human connection are forbidden.. so why bother with whatever happens 25 years from now...

Likely not. Unless MS has a way to patch out the check-in functionality later down the road.

Major Nelson already said you would be able to play your games if the servers were discontinued. You just wouldn't be able to play online of course.

Probably not. However I am willing to bet anyone that the X1 games will be forwards compatible with future products.

No. They will shut it down when Xbox Two reaches 8 years of life, then say goodbye to all of your games.

Probably not, but I'm sure there will be, er, methods of playing X1 games, just like there are ways of playing SNES games etc. now.

He said it was too early to talk about. Then he made some sweeping statement about "that's not the system we are building" or something like that. Doesn't mean crap. Besides the guy is a giant douche, would trust anything he says.

In 25 years, you will be playing X-bone games on your cellphone through an emulator. Hell maybe more like 5 years from now lol.

Yea but you'll have to rebuy all the games you already bought thanks to M$'s over 25 year old policy fee.

I don't know, but on the xbox site it says ' ''Some games not transferable and have no resale value; restrictions on games usage apply.' ' we knew about the used game stuff already but 'restrictions on games usage apply'? I hope this is doesn't mean you buy a license that lasts a year or hell even time restraints for some games like the warZ has. Actually, I hope it is that so I can buy a ps4 and laugh

I was thinking about being banned. My mistake. If you're banned you can still access and play your games. You just can't go on XBL. I doubt you wouldn't not be able to play your games is M$ shut down their server. All they would have to do is send a patch that tells everyone Xbox One it doesn't need to check in for account confirmation and updates. That's pretty simple.

MS says yes, and I'd bet they can disable the online checks in the future if they desire. Of course, MS has a habit of abandoning platforms when they grow tired of them. So I'd understand any wariness to trust them.

You don't actually buy the console, you know, because you don't own it. You rent it. MS will tell you when it's time to stop playing.

No it can't, if the servers go, all the games go, and therefore the console. The console will only be able to play blu rays

The games are on the console, not the servers. All the servers do it check and verify that they are associated with your gametag and if there are patches for the games. It'll still play the games.

This is a question that MS refuses to answer and sidesteps constantly. SO the answer is NO... NO you won't be able to. They are going to take your 100's if not 1000's of dollars of investment and turn it into a worthless heap of plastic and metal.

One of the many reasons I'm steering clear of MS this generation.
