Its a console. After all console gamers have indicated that they are not interested in upgrading every month with PC gaming. :P
Recently, computer tech has not been advancing as it used to. Also, games require more time to develop. That means this gen ought to last longer than usual. I would like 20x faster PS5 in 2019 but it's not achievable. For Sony to offer enough leap compared to basic PS4 and especially the PS4 Pro they need to wait 3 more years. In the past, it took only 2 years to make a game and now it takes 3-4 years so instead of 5-6 years for this gen we get 8, like with the last one, counting from X360 in 2005. Nintendo is weird, coming out with 3 consoles during 2 console generations.

LOL, the same millions more that were supposed to jump and get the X at launch over the PS4 because it was more powerful. How did that turn out for you last time?
@Pedro: Not really. With new exciting waves of technological advancements lurking behind the R&D curtains (first coming MRAM in 2019), the PS6 may be equipped with a petaflop GPU. I don't think late 20s PCs are going to be anything close to what we have now. We are currently in a period of stagnation but it's going to end. A few years after PS5 releases.
@emgesp: Think Sony cared about Segas release cycle back in the ps1/ps2 days? MS has thrown three SKUs at the industry the past 4 and a half years... MS fell completely into the same trap and has been buying it's way out of the hole where Sega could not.
Nothing new is happening, and Gods honest truth is that PS5 is going to be a slice right out of the ps2 playbook. Sony is going to make MS spend money to stay relevant, and that is perfect as far as they are concerned.
The long game of chicken with MSes investors has only begun.
That would be just right for me. More time to get through my backlog and get a PS5 about a year after it comes out, and I won't feel like I'm missing out on much for too long.
For Sony, makes sense. It would be better for making as much money off PS4 before the transition, and it will be more affordable to go for a very big step up in power.
In a way, because the next consoles will no doubt have far more powerful, different types of CPUs. You may remember this article which goes into detail on the subject. And of course, many multiplats are shared with PC. The wait doesn't bother me though. There's still so many fresh new games I've got to get through.

lol, they haven't given their investors a timeline on the PS5's release. They've just told them the PS4's time is ending and it will take 3 years to end.
Everyone knows that Sony continue to support their old consoles even when the new one is out so that end phase timeline can extend till even after the PS5 is out.
Sony doesn't cut and run like MS when it comes to their consoles. The PS5 can arrive at anytime between now and 2021.

Good point but not just that. People bring up investors like they have a magical seat in the board room. When investors sell stock, someone is buying it from them. Looking at a pulled back snapshot of these companies the graph is always a steady climb upward.
I think that with diminishing returns would make gamers less and less impressed with their new system unless hardware life cycles increase.
There ard plenty of people I know who weren't too impressed with the difference between this and last gen. The problem with that is last gen the consoles used tech that was most similar to high end gpu power and while the increase was nice the current gen gpus were similar mid/low end gaming gpu and if they give that same kind of range and time frame it should really do about the same or it may be disappointing.
3 more years of CPU bottlenecked games and 30fps garbage. Good times ahead....

I've had Sunset Overdrive this whole time for X1 but couldn't be bothered to finish it because of the frame rate and blur. If it comes to PC, I may actually play through it. So, it is not a matter of begging because I do not have access to the game. It is about not being happy with what is being offered and demanding more. What good is limiting a game to a platform if it can't even run the game properly? Everybody loses. Consoles are shit and exclusives that don't even run properly are just a waste of otherwise good games. Just look at a game like Bloodborne. What a waste. Would have been so much better on PC.
