Think about it...3-5% IS 300,000-500,000.I'm pretty sure we havent heard 300,000-500,000 stories about people's 360 breaking down...sure there are alot of stories online....but at the most there like 100-200.So when does 100 or 200 stories( esp. since most of the stories say that it has been twice o rmore and they're being sent the same consoleonly supposedly fixed)makemore than a 5% failure rate.

And I called a Ms rep about the failure rate ( i faked my 360 was breaking down, it really hasnt and ive had for over a year) and they said i was 16877th caller about a broken or failing 360, since launch...doesnt look much huh?

Yeah its probably not as big of a deal as some people make it out to be. And most of the stories are just Sony fanboys making up crap.

Mine works fine and people can say anything on the internet. I'm sure many stories are true but some probably are not.

MS already admitted to lying about the failure rates once, indicating that it was abnormally high and seeing as the reports about them crapping are still pretty common its safe to assume that the hardware is still pretty shady.

mine broke down, I didnt get the red lights of death, it just would freeze up. But I was kinda lucky because mine was a launch 360 that I stood in line and froze my a$$ off to get. Anyways long story short, I was forced to buy the core at the time because all the premiums where bought up and I wasnt about to leave empty handed so I used the extra money and bought the service contract from microsoft extending the warranty on my 360

Yes this may be true but what are the odds with 3 people in the same house owning an xbox 360 and all three of them breaking down? I could understand maybe 1 out of every 100 but 3 in the same house, is ridiculous. Click on the link to see some1 who is not a fanboy but is just shocked with his 3 friends on how all three of there xbox 360's broke down. I will admit MS does have great games for its platform but there xbox 360 hardware sucks, and breaks down.

just because people dont call ms about their broken 360s doesn't mean the failure rate isn't higher then 3-5%. alot of stores.. well every store offers warranty plans with your new console and most people do get these and they can just trade their system out at the store for a new one if anything goes wrong with it.

still...i find it an overexaggation...i doubt more than 500,000 people have or will have their 360 crap out.

Its much higher than that,it was so bad in the UK that they ran a feature about it on Watchdoghttp://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tv_and_radio/watchdog/reports/consumer_goods/consumer_20070213. Most people here just return their broken 360's to the stote they bought it from.

Well people from different areas would call different numbers..And a lot of people wouldnt even call at all so yeah, thats not really an accurate representation of how many crapped out. Whatever it is, compared to the PS3 and Wii, its safe to say it was high.

It's more a thing that the people with broken 360's make a big deal about it. The people with working 360's don't say anything and enjoy the experience.

well the thing is we know it is high because for one thing; do we ever hear of Nintendo wii breaking down or even the PS3 breaking down? No, so we barely hear about Wii's or PS3 breaking down right but xbox 360 we hear it very often. I think the failure rate is alot higher than normal. If it is normal we would be hearing the same thing about Wii and PS3 breaking down as well.

my xbox just broke... cost me another $176 for repairs and i gotta wait 2-3 weeks with no XBL.... the reson so many xbox's breaking down is becase of the GPU and CPU balling, in amarica you cant solder with lead when makeing computing stuff... so they solder it with crappy metal and mixed with a litlle overheating the contacts from the GPU and CPU start to fail... im gunna reball my new xbox so it wont happen again...

I wish that were the case. Bought my 360 on 12/2/2006 and it crapped out on me 4/6/2007. Currently waiting on the box to ship it back. I got the 3 flashing lights and error code 0102 (unknown error). It sucks that it happened just as the Annex update was about to take place, and now there's the Halo 3 video that I can't get on the marketplace. Hopefully they have gotten better at fixing the problem, I'll be pissed if I have to send it in again in 4 months.

my ps3 broke one week after launch. £425 wasted!
