I just saw someone from Microsoft say on Gametrailers. That is pretty interesting also. I guess they did not wnt to mention in the main conference because they were pushing the new model.

[QUOTE="CanYouDiglt"]Proof though?Streaming video so sorry I can not. Jeff Keley or however his name is was talking to a couple people after the show and one of the Microsoft people said it.I just saw someone from Microsoft say on Gametrailers. This would have, could have been major news. Instead it's being relegated to an off-hand mention after the show?... how suspicious... maybe they're phasing out the Arcade and getting rid of the remaining stock, after all, why would they keep producing 360 Fats after redesigning the system?
Of course they are getting rid of older stock. The slim will cost them less to make. Look for example the PS3. The console plays the same games but one is cheaper to make so the older model goes. This would have, could have been major news. Like you said, they're probably phasing out the 'old' 360s to make way for the new ones. If they announced a re-design at those price points then it would just cannibalize current 360s; everyone would buy the new one instead. Once all the current stock has diminished then they'll announce lower priced SKUs. I'm guessing a core model $199 w/120GiB and built-in wi-fi.This would have, could have been major news. probably wasn't mentioned because they are going to phase out this sku. It makes zero sense to not announce a price drop during the conference. ANYTHING like this might have salvaged that abomination of a conference.darthogre
They wanted the focus to be aimed at the redesigned 360, so it makes sense.

I wonder if thisll reinvigerate360 sales? (New model and price drops.)

Um.....yes. You are going to see Three SixOs flying off the shelves.
well see. Personally, I think the new 360 is butt ugly. I wonder what SONY will announce to try and combat this.

Im not sure why someone would buy a Arcade model over the new Slim model. you jsut get so much more from the 299 slim model that it would be stupid not to pay the extra 150 bucks.
Guys the internal HDD is properitary or whatever
Its still gonna be sold separetly and it comes out easily, theres a vid on kotaku of the editor taking the HDD out
And MS said on Gizmodo that they will refresh the Arcade SKU soon
Probably a Arcade with 20GB HDD or no HDD and flash memory of 1GB and WiFi hopefully for $199
cuz they might not have the money to get the slim (maybe only have 200, 250, etc)Im not sure why someone would buy a Arcade model over the new Slim model. you jsut get so much more from the 299 slim model that it would be stupid not to pay the extra 150 bucks.

theres deals for $50 off the arcade model all the time. the 150 price point is not new. dont see how this'll clear stock when anyone looking at ads couldve found a 150 arcade from dec-til now pretty easily.
Its still to expensive for a Arcade without a HDD. We all know how expensive it is for a decent size HDD. If MS would include a 20 GB HDD with the Arcade it would really boost there sales.djsifer01It's cheaper just to use a USB stick (which it now supports).
Beacuse now maybe those $50 off ads will take the 360 Arcade down to $99 instead. A console that can do some nice games or double as a Media Center Extender for $100 could be mighty tempting.theres deals for $50 off the arcade model all the time. the 150 price point is not new. dont see how this'll clear stock when anyone looking at ads couldve found a 150 arcade from dec-til now pretty easily.

[QUOTE="XboximusPrime"]cuz they might not have the money to get the slim (maybe only have 200, 250, etc)Or they may not play online, or have access to broadband internet. Without it, all that other stuff is worthless.Im not sure why someone would buy a Arcade model over the new Slim model. you jsut get so much more from the 299 slim model that it would be stupid not to pay the extra 150 bucks.
