360 back to outselling PS3? (Kotaku)

According to the predictions, the Playstation 3 will see a sizable drop this month in sales down more than 130,000 consoles to 235, 447 while the Xbox 360 wil see an increase of 105,000. The Wii's drop will be a predicted and substantial 170,455.

Hmm, interesting. Last year the 360 was doing slightly better, this year the ps3 is doing slightly better. And now it's back and forth.

I can see how the 360's library is more apealing. I like the ps3, and I think it will continue to sell very well, but game wise the 360 has more rpg's for me. (except for mgs4)

If this GUESS is true I see it as a temporary thing as oppossed to "return to reality" as you state it. The reality is so far this year in NA the PS3 has outsold the 360 almost every month. I think the 360 won ONE month and if I recall correctly it was a victory of 5k. With the PS3 outselling the 360 WORLDWIDE I would say the reality is what it has been which is behind the PS3.

The 360 will definatly gain from a price drop, but only for a short time.

I had figured that the FF13 megaton would have a sizeable impact on PS3 sales - how many people here who were holding out on getting a PS3 for that title did we see say they didn't have that reason to pick up the console now?

But then again, predictions are like opinions, everybody can make em, and most usually do so without any investigation. And while Kotaku may have done some amount of investigation to formulate this, you reeeeally have to take it with a grain of salt :P

If I recall the Jan. was 60K more, Feb. was 30K more and I cant remember the rest but it was alot more then 1000.

I don't see the 360 out selling in monthly sales in world wide totals. The thing is from the day the PS3 was released it's been closing the gap of the one year lead that the 360 had before the PS3 and Wii were released.

And the thing is the PAL region didn't get the PS3 until March of 2007 and it still outsold the 360 in that region last year.

no last year the 360 was selling the ps3 2-1 every month, this year the ps3 has equal or sold more than the 360. that would be normal if you want to call the 360 selling more than the ps3 normal plus i believe the ps3 sold more than 1000 more

3 years if you only counted ONE region but the PS3 is outselling the 360 in ALL THREE regions which I wouldnt be surprised if by the end of 09 it outsold the 360 WORLDWIDE.

150K is 150K...I did not have to say worldwide..... because it matters absolutely nothing... While the PS3 is selling more it has not even come close to a 150K more per month...

It's the month afte MGS4 was released, which explains the drop for Ps3. And this is including the 360 drop in price if I'm not mistaken.

I love how the PS3 outsells the 360 every year yet stalwart Sony developers are jumping ship left and right. Maybe they know something we don't *ahem* PS3 = Only Blu-Ray for many... or PS3 owners will only buy FF, MGS and GT5... everything else will crash and die a horrible death regardless of game quality.Senor_Kami

what is with this reality crap. the 360 outsold the ps3 2-1 last year when this happens again then people can say this but since the 360 hasn't outsold the ps3 by no more than 5,000 i doubt sales will be like this again. ms will more than likely sell more if the price drop is real but i don't expect this to be long term

Anyways, I don't think there will be a major jump in 360 or PS3 sales until the holidays. Although there may be a spike in 360 sales due to the new SKU and price drops. As for the PS3 outselling the 360, it may be doing it now, but the PS3 still has to catch up to that extra year the 360 had on it. So unless something major happens, such as a huge PS3 exclusive dropping and moving tons of systems, or the 360 stops selling completely, I think the 360 will still be on top overall. I'm thinking the PS3 and 360 will pretty much be close in sales at the end of this generation.

Perhaps but the sad thing is PS3 has had 2 big things this year 1 BluRay winning 2 MGS, but they have shot their wad and this holiday Gears 2 and Fable 2 with a price cut will beat sony. I like PS3 but you know this is true.

i heard that the DRE ps2 were counted in the 120 million ps2s sold thats why i was wondering if the rrod xboxs counted as well

It's kinda like Sony getting it's @@@ handed to them by NIN not only in Japan..but worldwide....Funny yea think... with so much market dominance last gen for them to get pummeled by NIN and having to play catch up most of this Gen to MS...

Gears 2 and Fable 2 are suppossed to beat Sony?? If I recall last year MS had Bioshock, ME and Halo 3 (its biggest game) and the PS3 still outsold the 360. Blu ray winning hasnt pushed as many consoles as people think, people get a PS3 for BOTH of its features, the whole, PS3 sells as a blu ray player myth is crap and its game attach ratio proves this to be wrong which is the same as the Wii and 360 when it was that age.

Gears 2 I dont see pushing many consoles seeing as I believe gears 1 was the game that would have sold the consoles. I dont imagine a group waiting for the second one to jump in. Fable 2 will have even less of an impact and the price drop will be a temporary benefit like most price drops.
