So I noticed that XBOX 360 Elites are $299 these days, as well as the new PS3 Slim. So, which one should I get? Iminterested in thePS3, because I already had a 360, and just like the majority of its owners, suffered from the infamous Red Ring of Death. PS3 has some good games, butim just so used to the Xbox Nation, and how awesome it is. Also, can you play PS2 games on the PS3, like how you can play Original Xbox games on the 360? So, which one would you suggest? Which one would be more worthwhile getting? I already have a few 360 games, so that comes into play as well. Tell me why I should either stick to the 360, or get back to my roots with the Playstation. Convince me.

EDIT~~ I dont have an HDTV, so neither Bluray, or HD capabilities mean anything to me.

360 is going to have the better online. More people have the games and more people play online. You CAN NOT play PS2 games on the Slim. Honestly just go with which games you like.

Whichever you prefer.

Do you like better multiplats, a larger gaming library, & better online for the 360, or do you want the same games as well as a free Blu-Ray player for the PS3?

The only reason anyone says Elite is a good deal is because MS insists on gouging prices on HDD.

It's pretty silly.

Already having games for the 360 is a plus for going back to the 360. The newer models have (according to the general consensus) fewer issues with RROD/E74 console breakdowns than the earlier models, and the 3 year warranty will cover each issue anyhow. Also, the Slim isn't BC with PS2 games (just PS1) so that also comes into play.

Not to say there aren't any reasons for getting the Slim. You're getting the most hardware for your buck with Sony's console, and they have some great exclusves that have come out in the past year, and more over the next year. Also, the free online mltiplayer is a big plus for me. PSN isn't as feature rich as Live for sure, so you'll have to decide if Live's extra features are worth the annual fee or not. If online multiplayer is your primary concern, they both play games the same way and with the same reliability.

Honestly, at $299 it's hard to go wrong with either console. It's gonna come down to preference and your needs, but both are well worth their new price tags.

(And helpful hint: It's difficult to take many opinions in SW seriously. If you want to cut out some of the fanboy comments, the General Gaming forum might be a better place to get reasonable opinions.)

If you still have the HDD from the RROD Xbox, just get an Arcade.. $199 and there your problem is solved. Get a PS3 later for the exclusives if you want (after another price drop).

PAL360

Someone is stuck in 2005-2007 era I see. The only reason 360 has more multiplats is because it came out a year earlier....it does share a few games with the PC but thats the main reason. In the past 2 years Sony has had way more exclusives, equal amount of multiplats, better looking exclusives and multiplats that are virtually identical to the 360s after a rough start. Better online...yes if you like the extra content but the gaming itself is the same and the controller is merely preference....I prefer the DS3 as it actually has a functioning dpad.

Ps3 has:

more reliable hardware

Free online

expandable and easy hard-drive

quieter hardware

more beautiful and well built hardware

Blu-ray player

Wi-fi

Media gallery and photo-management program.

Full Dvix support

Better and more exclusives

Is more future proof and holds more value at resale

Disc are less likely to get scratched

Blutooth support

Mouse and keyboard compatibility

Web browser

These were the reasons I bought it.

Some lemmings are ignorant to all the PS3 features, have hate towards sony or simple buy what their friends tell them.

For me is very easy to see the Ps3 is a better than the 360, perhaps is because I have lots of information on all options, know all console library and features and have good reasoing.

Do some research on all features and exclusives for the PS3 and you will be amazed on how good it is.

The 360 is still a good console, but just don't buy a Wii, because it is overpriced and will be dated when ps3 wand and Natal comes by.

And regardless of wich console you will eventually own, buy a HDTV. No excuses not have a HTDV. NONE

PS3 is FAR more worth its price, I think any sane person will agree.
Best hardware, best exclusive line-up (MGS4!!), free online, Blu-ray etc.

I think the PS3 is outstanding and ends up saving you money down the line...even more so now that the price has come down. but judging from your post and the things you're looking for, I'd say stick with the 360.

Well, if you don't care about all the extra features then you should look at the exclusives for both consoles (both, the ones already out and the ones coming late 2009 and early 2010) and ask yourself which library appeals to you more.

The fact that you already have some x360 games is a bonus, though. That's usually the main reason why people don't switch to the ps3 after several RROD. If you are planning to switch to a ps3, though, better do it soon before your 360 library gets too big, the exchange rates suck.

Guess what? It's still happening now! Look at Ghostbusters for example.

The PS3 is now an extremely strong contender at $299. For what you get in a PS3, $299 is the MUCH better value for a person comeing into gaming. I already own a 360 so it was a nobrainer to pick one up.

I got me a PS3 slim! :D

Although, I was a little biased from the get go because all my friends have 360s and I therefore have access to the 360 exclusives. So the Ps3 slim was a no brainer for me.

I would choose the PS3. I find the games and quality of the hardware more impressive than the 360's.(nothing to do with RROD.. E74). Build quality, finish, etc.

Whichever system that plays your favorite games. It's that simple.
