360 Fans.. Pretend Halo and Gears didnt exist.. Why would the 360 be worth it?!

Im just curious. Lets say for instance that the 360 didnt have Halo 3 and Gears, and all it had was its mediocre titles such as Lost Planet, Dead rising, Crackdown etc. Why should someone own a 360?!  Basically what im saying is.. Pretend I didnt own a 360 and I wanted someone to sell me on a 360. Im a Casual gamer and not into RPGs, so Mass Effect nor bioshock would be a selling point. I like Shooters, Racers and good action packed games.. So convince me why should I own a 360.. Again lets pretend Halo and Gears didnt even exist...

The point of this thread is Phil Harrison was right when he said a few months back. He simply said he respected the Halo franchise but he also said its dangerous to build a console on only one franchise.. And he was right.  I mean lets face it, Gears and Halo are the system sellers for the 360 like it or not.. While Mass effect and bioshock might be great games, they wouldnt move consoles like Gears and halo does.

Honestly Im not trying to bash the 360 even though it might sound like it. I own a 360 and enjoy it greatly BUT I will admit that if it wasnt for Gears and Halo, I wouldnt even take a second look at the 360. Sure it might have some ok games... But not anything to warrant paying $400.00  you might say "but the PS3 is $600.00 and it has no titles either" Well yes, you are true BUT in the future it will have a lot more titles actually worth the price tag as opposed to other titles that are mediocre and are worth rentals at best.

OMG that is really sad.  Only 1 of those games has actually been released for the ps3.

I'm not going to try and convince you on why to buy any piece of hardware. I will answer your question as a fan of the console though, regardless of what type of gamer you think you are and whatever you play.

In no way is Dead Rising or Lost Planet mediocre. U call AA games mediocre. MGS 1 and 3 had AA scores. They are mediocre?
Anyway the 360 has DOA 4, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 3, Viva Pinata, Splinter Cell, Crackdown, Command and Conquer 3,Codemmned, Kameo, PDZ, PGR 3, PGR 4, Forza 2, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Huxley, Too Human, Graw, Rainbow Six, Oblivion, Lost Oddyssey, Saints Row, etc.
The 360 has lots of great titles, and even more coming up. It has a very divers and well rounded library. It currently looks to continue to have the best library by the end of this year. Its not Microsofts fault if casuals dont like some of the great games aimed at hardcore gamers. Where would PS2 have been without the GTA timed exclusive last gen. Where will sony be this year without MGS 4 and FF 13. casuals wont buy a Lair or a Heavenly Sword.

The bottom line is MS needs to really build upon their first and second party line up. I mean if MS would apply that time and money into 1st/2nd party development, man They would really own. I mean Gears and halo are great but lets face it.. they need stronger 1st/2nd party titles. What they need to do is start utilizing the Rare games, make a killer instinict title even a donky kong country title and create more 1st party titles. You see sony isnt hurting, sony has 1st/2nd party to back up on. If Final fantasy and MGS jump shipped and went to 360 who cares.. You still have all the amazing 1st/2nd party titles BrutonNYC

Listen, it's a matter of personal preference. No matter what, you're always going to have a group of people (fans) like a certain console more because of the GAME FRANCHISES that console holds. And that, good sir, is an opinion. An opinion, if you knew, cannot be altered, changed, or proved wrong unless accepted by the one holding the opinion the matter is worth changing.

So keep telling yourself that PS3 rules all. FACT. and know that AS A FACT, you are indeed wrong. Not to mention making a fool out of yourself.

As for me? I have no problem with the PS3, I hope it succeeds, it seems like a really cool system, but all the franchises that I ENJOY (regardless if you think the ps3 counterpart is better....i still enjoy it) are on the 360. Take FOrza 2 for example, i dont care if the graphics are not impressive, its gonna be one hell of a game. and thats my OPINION.

I don't even play Gears nor am I really looking forward to Halo 3.  Actually I could probably only care a slight bit less if Halo 3 ever came out.

I played Call of Duty 3 for a while, I get my kicks playing DDRU, soon Forza, and now I'm awaiting Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, the Darkness, Stranglehold, Mass Effect, and probably a bunch of others I'm forgetting to name.  The 360 doesn't have a lot of amazing games right now, but enough to keep me interested.  And I'm really looking forward to this year's releases.

honestly Halo3 and Gears were never my most anticipated games...honor goes to Mass Effect. Although its been out on PC for awhile and is going to be multiplat, the Orange Box Half Life 2 has me pretty hyped as well TF:2 looks awesome and I have only played the 1st Half Life 2 so the episodes will be fun as well
