So does this mean the jasper didn't fix anything? Al3x_n90Either I'm going crazy here, but every time I see you, your level seems to switch between 15 and 17. Anyway this is just 1 example, I guess the Jasper is still bound to get RROD sometimes.
So does this mean the jasper didn't fix anything?Grrr if my 360 gets the RROD again i'll....(it's out of waranty) Al3x_n90This is not RROD. If you let it cool down it should be okay.

No, you're fine...actually i got reported and suspeded for a couple of days because i quoated somebody and said "^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^" as in "what he said" and that was considered disruptive posting and my level went down AGAIN from 17 to 15.Now it'll probably get back up at 17 or something.Actually i think i've been a member of gs longer than you(i think, too lazy to check your profile) and i was once level 20, so imagine how much i got moded
Anyway, i thought jasper was really gonna do something, but really now, at a game show?

Guess what....MS hasnt fixed anything at all with jasper or any other "code name" chip. They WILL NOT fix the 360 so everyone quit expecting it...sorry

Read the rest of the thread, thats not RROD. A lot of people didn't even click the link... And I already pointed that out with the first reply.Whats embarressing is all the people in this thread and the one linked that actually think this is RROD.TOAO_Cyrus1The ones saying is RROD are pro ps3...and i doubt they own the xbox360 since they should know already that isn't RROD.

i actually tried blocking the vents on my old pc to see what happens, with a Gigabyte motherboard(they put out way more heat than others) it didn't shut down, sadly. My 360 froze up on me a about 3 times(i think) and it was in a very well ventilated place, my ps3 never did that dough, even dough since about 4 months ago i had it standing on top of a big SD tv, and the flat part of the tv(lol) was not as wide as my ps3, so it's rear little legs thingys(lol) were in the air and the rear section of my ps3 was fllat on the tv.
And i know that isn't the RROD but that's the name those lights have...or do you want 1/2RROD? anyways those things can lead to a RROD or other problems :? never had the 1/2rrod lol, just 2 rrods, no warnings :(

I know this is not RROD
But Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft should take care that nothing happens to the consoles at a game show regardless it is RROD, YLOD, overheating...

RROD means red ring of death, not anyd red light code, I dont see any dead console there.
The error codes can mean allot of things, one of the most common is 4 lights which just means the A/V cable became disconnected and allot of people mistake that for RROD which is actually just 3 lights. Overheating isnt the direct cuase of RROD, there is no pattern of overheating and then failure that I know of. Most people just get it randomly. Remember this error code just means that the internal tempeture is too high, not that one of the chips actually overheated. Most PC BIOS's shut down only when the CPU overheats, not when the internal temp gets hot, running prime95 or some other torture test might do it.

it's not over heating that causes RROD it's cyclic heat damage over time (expansion and contraction of the solder jounts) because the 360 changes temperature too rapidly, also EVERY pc will shutdown if the fan stops working, and comparing a pc tower with lots of room to breath to a 360 is nota fair comparison[QUOTE="TOAO_Cyrus1"][QUOTE="Al3x_n90"]i actually tried blocking the vents on my old pc to see what happens, with a Gigabyte motherboard(they put out way more heat than others) it didn't shut down, sadly.

Yes if the fans stop working but not if the internal temp gets hot, you have to actually overheat the CPU to make it shut down.TOAO_Cyrus1its always the GPU overheating that causes th 360 to shut down, not the CPU, my main point is that RROD being caused by overheating is a myth, it's the rapid cool down that does the damage.

Actually its the internal temp of the 360 that causes it to get that error code, not the GPU. The GPU is mostly responsible for RROD. And I was talkign about making a PC shut down through overheating.

Actually poor ventilation does it, it would still happen with a cooler GPU but it might take longer.

Now I'm not trying to defend teh 360 here, but any electronic device can overheat if you put it in a small closed space.
Even PS3.

What I don't understand is why they still do this when they demo consoles.
Why not put them somewhere in the back with lots of space to breath.
ha ha ha. I admit it is funny. I guess the RROD will live in infamy with the Xbox360. Other then that, that really is the only problem with the Xbox360. Xbox360 is serving as a great games machine ;)Link1

Failure rate is only 33%, so when one breaks out of many it's shocking indeed. Somehow people on these forums think games consoles are prone to overheating.EuropeGangsta
Beeeeeeeeeeeep. Sarcasm detecter overloaded.
Seriously though: the failure rate is way too high, but can we stop throwing out numbers that are pulled out of thin air.
