As is was reading the things that Rockstar had to say about the problems with the xbox's not haveing hard drives in all and its affecting the game i got to thinking, is the 360 holding back nex-gen gaming?

1) All the 360s do not have a HDD and with there policy about being able to fit a saved game on a memory stick or it cant be released will be a problem for multi-platform games as they get bigger.

2) The Xbox 360 is stil using DVD's and with HD-DVD's on the way out it seems to late for them to be able to start putting there games on a bigger disk format. And with seeing PS3 exclusives getting bigger and bigger and with seeing the quote by Hideo Kojima saying even Blu-Rays are to small is seems that xbox using DVD's is a big step backward for nex-gen gaming.

Dont get me wrong though the 360 is a good system and it has a great online feature and some really good exclusives but over all it seems that this system is holding back games from truly going to the next generation. And seeing games like Haze and Burnout Paradise being started mainly on the PS3 and seeing how good there looking makes my thinking of the 360 holding back gaming be even stronger.

Go ahead and add anything on why you think the 360 is holding back gaming or things that you think the system is doing to go ahead of the other systems.

DEBATE!

Rockstar said both platforms have their ups and downs, for one thing you can switches discs and for another not all 360's can use a HDD to cache data but the PS3's disc read speed is slower, which balances it out, then add to the equation the 360 has the superior GPU and the PS3 the superior CPU really both are more powerful than the other in different areas so you could argue it either way.

All three systems are holding this gen back.

Xbox 360 : Lack of Hard drive

Ps3: Lack of Unified Ram that is easily accessable

Wii: Lack of Hardware

No standard HDD was a supid decision, but I can't see it being too much of a obstacle.

The Wii isn't? The PS3 isn't? The Wii has lackluster visuals. The PS3 scares consumers away. I agree with you to an extent, but the 360 isn't holding next-gen back, it actually brought next-gen to us a year early.

The 360 "holding back gaming"..?

M$ and the 360 aren't the ones charging $600 for a Video Game system.. Let's stop being fanboys and think.. Sony couldn't care less about "winning" this gen.. The only thing they care about is establishing bluray as the next media format, So they can own the sole rights to it. As of right now you have no proof that 2-3 years from now games will not get better on the 360.. Infact it'd be naive to think so... As devs get more and more familiar with the hardware, they'll learn ways of exploiting it.. (same with all the system's.. Look at God Of War 2). If anything the PS3 is taking us into a direction that we shouldn't be killing eachother to get to.. and that is charging ridiculous amounts of money for something that once was a simple hobby. Why do you think the PS3 isn't selling...
