The similarities are uncanny between Sega and 360, not mentioning the Peter Moore Factor.

N64:

Complicated and expensive to develop for.

Company arrogant at the time.

Had a weakening fanbase who were the brand followers.

Losing support.

Console was expensive.

Relying soley on the brand.

PS3:

Complicated and Expensive to Develop for.

Company just plain arrogant.

Fan base weakening as patience for "waiting" starts to hurt. (Lets wait for the console, lets wait for the games, lets wait till a year after it has been released, lets wait until SCE gets off their ass and does something useful).

See I can do it too, doesn't mean it's a good idea and mine is a bit more recent and a bit more accurate. I'm sure I could think of a few more similarites.

See its impossible to compare MS to Sega, see MS have more than enough money to keep them going. Also there is nothing in the elite which changes the specs for games, unlike Sega machines.

This was Sega's main problem they were never happy. I was going to buy a Dreamcast but I heard rumors of a new version, that never happened, so I waited and by then it was too late for them.

Microsoft has billions and billions of dollars.

Sega had a small fraction of what microsoft had to support its product.

...and even if the 360 doesn't win the console war, microsoft will probably still have a few more xboxes up their sleeve.

EXACTLY, the one I did was out of fustration to show how stupid it was to do so. But the thing that makes comparisons stupid, is that, its different companies, a different period of time in a different games industry. It's just a bit unfair on any games company. Its not like we know how to run their business just play their games.

It fustrates me more when people compare this gen to the last, the PS3 isn't the PS2. It is in a different possition regarding its release and competition, its doesn't command the same power the PS2 did with 3rd parties. It will not win in the same way, its so hard to predict the future of this gen more than any other, but people are already handing out the crown either way.

I guess we can do the ps2 to 360 comparison...

Ps2 and xbox 360 were released earlier, had better quality games than their competitors, and had worse graphics than competitors (or at least cows claim this with the 360).
