Although I don't really mind or care for sales, this is pretty impressive.

PSP - 58,501
Wii - 38,506
Xbox 360 - 24,962

PlayStation 2- 8,503
And what were the actual numbers?Chutebox
24,000 compared to 9900 (approx numbers) so it was a hammering.
Japan is not a major region for any consoleFFXIII360
PS2 got over 22m sales in Japan, so that is way ahead of every country except the US (UK is 3rd at a bit under 10m).
For one whole week impressive indeed. In other news PS3 once again outsold 360 in the USA for July's NPD.-Renegade
The world has gone crazy, 360 in front in Japan and PS3 in front in US.

Aren't there a couple of JRPGs coming out for Ps3 in Japan really soon?

Not sure, I'm only ontop of the US release dates for these RPGs but I wouldn't doubt the PS3 probably has a few big hitters in Japan for the next few months.

How do you figure? Since it already has sold over 30,000 in August so far (i think you mean September). Even in September i am expecting around 40,000 for the month (the PS3 should be around the same).

funny you say that since thats how much 360 passed in Japan for 1 week:roll:
It will go back to its place next month I mean week, Tales was just released it sold a few systems.... :P Very few.
For the U.S and European Race has me interested, is the Ps3 still winning even with the 360 Price drop and FF going multi :o
Well the numbers are not that great for the 360 really, it sure as hell didn't get a Blue Dragon-esque bump in sales. I am more curious about seeing how it sells in the next 3 months with Vesperia, Infinite Undiscovery in Sep and The Last Remnant in Nov. The low sales could be because there were not enough systems available or it could be that the sales increase wasn't all that good. Time will tell.
The sales of the game (Vesperia) itself are far more impressive though. It goes to show how pathetic the wii is for 3rd party games when a system with 6 million install base can't even move 200,000 copies of the Symphonia sequel yet a system with a barely 600,000 install base sells close to 110,000 its first week. Good luck with putting all future Tales games on the wii Namco

Fun or not, they're important, and indicative of a companies appeal to third parties.

you realise that at this rate the ps3 won't match the 360's install base, if it's only out selling the 360 by 20k a month it will take 50 months just to close the gap by a million, and sony need 6 million to equal the 360's user base.5 times 20,000 = 100,000
50 times 20,000 = 1,000,000
300 times 20,000=6,000,000
so as you can see at only 20k above a month it will take the ps3 about 300 months to match the 360's install base

Yup, so all the consoles need to do is sell the exact amount of consoles each month for the rest of their life spans. Simple enough no?

if anyone can find me the results for europe i will gladly recalculate my figures but it will have to at least double the 360's sales to reach 360's install base by the end of 2009, i will do that later right now i have to go shopping with my wife.[QUOTE="Nintendo_Man"][QUOTE="FFXIII360"]Japan is not a major region for any consoleFFXIII360

You really have no clue do you? The PS2 is still 16,800yen in Japan and it was MORE expensive in Japan than the US for its entire life!! The whole world doesn't like playing those pathetic US FPS games ya know, Japan certainly is a major region and always will be. No, I thnk you missed the point. Japan is PS's home. Its where they should have their most popular following. But they don't. This proves one thing : Japan is not PS's home. More like Wii's.

It's great, I am really enjoying it. I am about 12 hours in so far and it is one of my favourite Tales games ever and I own all the (Jp) PS1 and PS2 games. For me it is right up there with Phantasia on the PS1 and Destiny remake and Destiny 2 on the PS2. It is also the easiest Tales game by far,but I don't mind that. It just makes the game more of a pleasure to play.
