360 Owner. One Year later.. $630.00 OUCH

I was doing some calculatin and wow, stuff really does add up.. Lets take a look.. Below are items listed that I actually have purchased for my 360.

360 console since launch-$400.00

Battery Charge Pack-$30.00

2 years of Xbox live-$100.00 (Owned system since launch)

Wireless adapter-$100.00

So grand total.. $630.00 for the Neccesities of gaming. Now you might say "but MS doesnt force these items on you" Well I beg to differ.. First off you have the $30.00 battery charge pack. Hmm either $30.00 for battery charge pack or having to keep buying batteries over and over again.. I think ill go with the battery charge pack. Next up is the wireless adapter, again another item MS doesnt force you to buy BUT when you Live in a 2 story house, what other choice do I have?! Then ofcourse the Xbox live subscription, online gaming is all I do so ofcourse thats also a gaming neccesity.

So there you have it.. after one year the grand total for my 360 that ive spent thus far is $630.00 for my 360 and OUCH, to add insult to injury that price doesnt even include a built in HD-DVD drive and also a HDD thats 40 GBs smaller than my PS3 HDD.

Again I wont even include the price of the HD-DVD drive, Wireless headset and games etc I bought.. Im only including the price of the Neccessary items.. The other items such as HD-DVD drive and headset are luxuries.. So basically I spent $630.00 on just the NECCESSARY 360 items.

Ummmm.... the Elite should come with a rechargable battery pack + WiFi anyways, but since this is the old 360's they should come with those anyways, the Wii and PS3 do (the Wii doesn't have a battery pack but that's Nintendo, and they suck at making consoles).

Not really considering for $30.00 cheaper I got a console such as the PS3 with built in wifi, built in card readers, built in blu ray, HDD twice the size of the 360's premium, play and charge out of the box and free online...

Hate it?! Not at all, I love Gears and halo as much as the next person but i wont deny that the 360 is going to cost more than the PS3 in the long run, no matter how you look at it.. No matter how great and almighty the 360 might be and yes it does have some amazing games but thinking logically.. It will cost more than the PS3.. and yes living in a 2 story house I NEED a wireless adapter.. Unless ofcourse when I have company with kids and they are playing up and down the steps and trip over the network cable.. Yes i NEED the wireless adapter

Well then yes it may cost more for you but not for me. Plus if you look at Home that right there is going to cost you budles of money, its a great idea but its going to milk people quite a bit that want customization of their homes and stuff.

Anyway one thing I will say is that both system cost to much either way.

Yes the PS3 costs 1000 dollars all for the nesesities of gaming.

Edit, O and I forgot since Sony is taking such a loss on the PS3 you would be inclined to donate 300 dollars to them, SO the total cost comes to 1300 bucks.

Luckily its all about choice. Things you add to your 360 are optional. You can hate me for saying that, but its true. I know some gamers who bought the core *bless their soul lol* and a memory card. They just wanted to play the games with their bare system...and they can play the games. Now they're missing out online and in other areas, but it didnt cost them an arm and a leg.

Now if you're like me, you bought the system, then slowly over time added the wireless play and charge charger, xbox live, and other things. I guess its all about buying things all upfront or over time.

However in your case yes thats alot of money you forgot to add items on the PS3 side like cables (if you got a HD-DVD add on yet no HDMI cables for your PS3 you should feel ashamed) the thing is you pay $600 for the PS3 for the console no matter what the 360 is $400 and you dont need the other stuff. However in the long run teh 360 is probably more expensive due to XBL however for $5 a months I think XBL is worth every penny.

I didn't know that usb wireless adapters would work. Is there a list somewhere of compatible ones? Do you have to worry about installing drivers for them?

Let me get this straight, games arent in important part about gaming.This makes me think your a cow. Then you say that Wifi is needed but a headset isnt. Whole in your point is as big as the blackhole.

 For the record you A/B/G are better, more expensive and harder ti get then the cheap ones people keep going on about. It is also more expensive and harder to get then the ones in the Wii and the PS3. Why cant anyone get this and no its not just fanbois, but gaming media too.  First of all, he doesnt have a 360, hes a fake boy. Second of all hypothetically even if he did and sold it on ebay, PS3 has no games to spend money on....

Someday he may realise he has wasted $600 on a console that 360 is just dominating all over. Whatever PS3 can do, 360 can do better it seems.

I was doing some calculatin and wow, stuff really does add up.. Lets take a look.. Below are items listed that I actually have purchased for my 360.

360 console since launch-$400.00

Battery Charge Pack-$30.00

2 years of Xbox live-$100.00 (Owned system since launch)

Wireless adapter-$100.00

So grand total.. $630.00 for the Neccesities of gaming. Now you might say "but MS doesnt force these items on you" Well I beg to differ.. First off you have the $30.00 battery charge pack. Hmm either $30.00 for battery charge pack or having to keep buying batteries over and over again.. I think ill go with the battery charge pack. Next up is the wireless adapter, again another item MS doesnt force you to buy BUT when you Live in a 2 story house, what other choice do I have?! Then ofcourse the Xbox live subscription, online gaming is all I do so ofcourse thats also a gaming neccesity.

So there you have it.. after one year the grand total for my 360 that ive spent thus far is $630.00 for my 360 and OUCH, to add insult to injury that price doesnt even include a built in HD-DVD drive and also a HDD thats 40 GBs smaller than my PS3 HDD.

Again I wont even include the price of the HD-DVD drive, Wireless headset and games etc I bought.. Im only including the price of the Neccessary items.. The other items such as HD-DVD drive and headset are luxuries.. So basically I spent $630.00 on just the NECCESSARY 360 items.

Like I said in another thread, rechargable AA's and a USB wireless adaptor save you $60. Of couse by using your logic I would have to add about $800 because my 360 actually has games worth buying.pundog

spending a penny on a ps3 is a total waste of money. only positve is that it makes a good conversational piece.

Ive had both Units since their launch and I gotta say 6 mos after the ps3 launch ive only held the controller 4 times...

I havent felt this disappointed since the time Mueller/Saban decided to sign Culpepper instead of Brees.......ohh wait, more recent time, since Cam&theDolphins drafted Guinn@#9 instead of Quinn....

Funny thing is I have seen people post on the PS3 forums spending for extra controller/hdmi and the one game over 1000.  I spent $799 for 6 games 2 controllers(with rechargeable packs)

i have a 3 story house with stduents.

Wireless sucks, so we throw ethernet cables down the middle of the stairs.... 

so its only 530 :roll: if you count xbl as something you need. Seeing as i like single player games without duking it out online. I guess i got a good deal with both my consoles ;)
