When comparing the three main consoles, 360 owners always down the PS3 with the price difference. But 360 isn't the cheapest. So how does that work out? Seriously, I want to know.dubvisions
Because the 360 and PS3 share the majority of games together including some of the most anticipated: RE5. GTA4, AC...
Try playing those on the Wii.
Cause its cheaper and doesnt have crap graphics like Wii? With your logic, price is never a good thing because there is always a some small gaming system on the shelf with 5 bucks.DrathylWhat he said pity you couldnt have worked that out yourself and saved yourself some time
No, its because that just about all a 360 owner can do when argueing over the 360 and the PS3. Its all I ever hear. But when you get all of the features equal between the two, apples=to=apples, the price is fairly equal.
O.K. heres how it all works....I'll go slow....When I walk into a store I pay $300-$400 dollars for an XBOX 360 and $60 for a whole assortment of cool games, I go home and game.... I could also walk into the same store and pay $500-$600 for a PS3 plus $60 for a B+ R:FoM go home and have my friends kick me in the teeth for flushing an extra $200 dollars down the toilet. Thats pretty much standard fare for most PS3 purchases.... colmusterd28
You forgot some items on your 360 purchase. What about the wireless add-on, an HD-DVD player, an HDMI cable......oh, wait you can;t get that, a 60GB hard drive....man, it just keeps getting more and more expensive. I'll stop here for you to save up. Don;t forget to get a good warranty. I hear those 360 like to visit MS as often as possible. They miss daddy Gates.

You can't read, can you? He said, you can walk into a store, buy a $400 360 and a $60 game and start playing, PERIOD. Nothing more is needed, the PS3 doesn't give you the option.

I'm sorry, the hard drive doesn't come standard? And really, how many people just play with whats in the box? No one goes out to get componenet cables or anything else? Get real. Most 360 owners brag about Live. You're telling me that they don't go online? Oh, yeah. Thats another $50 a year. Lifetime of a console 5 years, total spent on Live $250.

Oh right, I forgot that all those things are mandatory purchases. I guess all these games I've been playing on my 360 are a figment of my imagination.
Uh last time I heard there was a $500 dollar PS3, and you get a nice batch demos on the online store for FREE. So for $100 bucks more you can have a Ps3, and it doesn't have a 5%+ defect rate. I don't think these guys should be talking after the whole "zephyr" crisis.thedarkomen
The 360 also has a $300 tard pack but who is going to buy that? It's the same deal with the PS3 tard pack only with the PS3 one you can't even upgrade it to premium later because it's missing vital components.

Um what "vital" components are you talking about? The PS3 20gb version has everything except the card reader, 40gb, and wireless internet. Uh, there isn't anything vital that needs to be added to it. You can actually SAVE GAMES without buying a memory card. You know that overpriced memory card that comes with your "tard pack." Oh wait. It doesn't. Anyone can buy a $500 PS3 and go and NEVER have to upgrade it. It's just a little different, no vital components are missing. Try again grasping for straws bud. Oh and about upgrading the PS3, you are able to upgrade the Hard Drive anytime, and the network adapter and wireless card readers can be added later. Ownage. The PS3 and the Xbox360 are after the same target consumers, the Wii is targeting different consumers.spinecaton
i brought Wii into the aruguement because 360 fanboys use price as the arguement. And when they make that arguement, it is ALL about price. Not the quality, not the games, not the features, just price. So, my point is that if its all about price, than Wii should be the top console. But it isn;t, is it?
It's cheaper for those who do not want all the optional components. For me, I wanted the ability to play hi-def movies and I needed a wireless connection. So $400 Xbox360 + $200 HD-DVD drive + $100 Wifi adapter = $700 or $600 PS3 + $100 HDMI cable (yes, I got ripped off...no need to keep reminding me ;)) = $700 well lookie there, they're equals!asmallchild
you're kidding right? How are they equal then? 360 doesn;t have the option of the HDMI. Man, that is an aweful arguement. Better go back to school, smallchild.

Got owned and now u start making things up eh? If its not about quality, not about games and not about features but just price... then we would all have a Wii. And no dont lie, dont take statements out of its original context. 400 dollars = xbox360 premium + a game. All u need. I never felt the urge to buy a HD-DVDdrive, never had the feeling i would want an HMDI output and 20 GIG is more than enough, never did i feel i didnt have enough space. Anywayz just deal with it, u payed +200$ for teh blu-ray and teh awesome features.*Sigh* I thought price comparisons like this one (in which cows add a bunch of accessories on top of the Xbox 360's price to make it seem more expensive than the PS3) had died...I guess I was wrong.
Why is is so hard for them to understand that those extra accessories are just that...EXTRA. They are optional. No one has to buy them. Thus killing that argument.
QFT. Some cows even calculate it this way. xbox core 300$ + HD 20 gig 100$ (ROFL) = 400 dollars with NO headset and No wireless controller XD*Sigh* I thought price comparisons like this one (in which cows add a bunch of accessories on top of the Xbox 360's price to make it seem more expensive than the PS3) had died...I guess I was wrong.

How much would it cost for the ps3 to be able to stream music, photo's, and video's from my pc? Or how much to make the ps3 act as a dvr and record live television weeks in advance?

Oh no... not another one of these straw-graspers.
Even if they were equal pricewise--and they're not--the 360 boasts better games, better multi-plats, better online and if the rumors are true about the Zephyr version, will soon offer a bigger hard drive, HD-DVD w/HDMI installed still for over $120 less than the similar Premium PS3. But even if that rumor proves to be false, the 360 is the superior console in every possible way.

So just about any way you want to slice it or try to justify a PS3 purchase, you fail. The 360 allows gamers to make options. If you want everything the PS3 has to offer, you can have them and all for appreciably less money, especially the rumored Zephyr model coming in 2-3 months. At that point, the only advantage the PS3 would have would be the built-in WiFi adaptor...but frankly, my 360 is near my cable tv, it doesn't require a WiFi adaptor seeing as it's 1 ft from the cable outlet. I'd guess that there are many people in a similar situation that would rather pay less for the console than for a redundant feature. Again, it's about options. Microsoft doesn't make us pay for stuff we don't want or need, or lets us add them as our situations change.
While Blu-Ray may be a nice selling feature, it represents less than 1/2 of 1% of the total DVD market. Why force PS3 owners that just want to play Motorstorm (which would've fit just fine on a standard DVD, btw) to pay for a HD movie format? Because Sony is force-feeding you something you may or may not need. If BluRay doesn't catch on (and beating HD-DVD does NOT mean that it's going to be the standard. It has to beat Standard DVD, in which case it's getting slaughtered) then the PS3 is sunk. As a 360 owner, I can sit back and wait to see if either HD format is worthwhile. If it appears that BluRay is going to be the next standard, I can always pick up a stand alone player for less than the PS3 in a year or two when it's been decided. If HD-DVD wins, I can pick up the 360 HD-DVD player, again for much less than the PS3. Either way, I win...and either way the PS3 buyer has paid a premium for something that wasn't required for great gaming. That being said, if someone absolutely NEEDS Blu Ray movies, then the PS3 is a good choice, albeit an inferior Blu Ray player compared to some stand alone players out there....

I am just pointing out what I see every time this comes up. I would never ridicule a Hi-def Movie player/ game system that fails to include Hi-Def cables of any kind, nor would I bring up a lack of software movie or otherwise for said system. I wouldn't try to explain to anyone that for -$200 you get Hi-def cables, a headset, over one hundred playable demos and a like number of trailers for games like UT3, with the free part of the online because most people have their opinions set in stone and would never listen to you anyway. Never under any circumstances would I try to convince someone that 90% of all games are multi-plat these days, nor would I point out that some other systems Killer Apps do not release until mid to late 2008, what would be the point when they won't listen anyway? Would I try to tell someone with a closed mind that for -$200 theres is a system with dozens of games that have scored above an 8 out of 10 on the sites that average out game scores? No, because again what is the point when nobody will listen. Lastly, never ever would I say that folks that wait until 2008-2009to buy a Hi-Def movie player/ game system will get said system for the same price as the current premium 360 price with the addition of quality movie and game software, Why? because you would just be wasting your breath trying to be resonable.
