[QUOTE="ReverseCycology"]Sure Japan is a part of the world wide video gaming industry but in a few years it won't really matter anymore, actually right now it doesn't matter anymore. Why you ask, because Japanese game developers are obselete now compared to Western developers. Most of the Japanese developers are old now and it seems like theres no young devs that wants to take up the challenge as bad as these Western devs that really love to make games.

The thing is, if you like Japanese games the hardware that moves the most sales matters. Japanese games tend to sell more in Japan then anywhere else, and games like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts make up 35-40% of it's sales in Japan.
This may not sound like a big deal but when you get a platform like hte Xbox 360 that has failed in Japan (due to Microsofts pathetic localization) the games won't appear on the system. There is a reason why (besides Capcom) most if not all other Japanese games on the system are either A titles or games from hardcore niche devs. And it doesn't help the fact that most Japanese games (especially Japanese centric games) have a really hard time moving units on the 360 due to the system being established as the "Hardcore American Shooter, Sports, and Action" console.
If you want to see games like Skies of Arcadia 2, Yakuza 3, Shin Megami Tensei, Dragon Quest, and the likes it won't happen on the 360.
Sadly it will be a while until we know which console will headline titles such as these (I am aware Yakuza 3 is on the PS3), since so far all platforms have been tanking in third party sales besides the Nintendo DS......which isn't even that third party viable in the first place.
This is true, and Microsoft is basically only making small steps to break into the japanese market so far. If microsoft keeps at it, they may finally break into the japanese market eventually.
