360 The Next Dreamcast

Don't get Mad Lemmings, the Dreamcast had a Amazing Start(Shemue,NFL2k,Skies of Arcadia to name a few) but After 2 years it just died out due to Super Popular PS2. On SW lemmings might have us Outnumber but outside in the real World people do not wany an Xbox console.

Last Gen MS came late , this time them being early is worse on them since it's already looked at as the Old console, no one thought the Dreamcast would die so fast with a killer Lineup(an even Better lineup than the PS2 for PS2's first full year) so the 360 has better games arguement is mute, People Assume the PS will get great Games and Purchase it. the Failue of 360 in Japan and Peter Moore leaving MS , 360's bad rep for durability will end up making the 360 a dead console way before this Gen ends.. After this Xmas i see the 360 falling off the Console war. Just like the Dreamcast.

P.S just get a PC Lemmings, they don't break, get the games you like to play, has killer Online. Why own the Poor mans PC when you can save up and buy a PC.

The reason the DC died was Segas lack of money.

MS doesnt exactly have a lack of money.

If the 360 is a DreamCast, then the PS3 is a Saturn.

I doubt the 360 will just turn over and die. Sure it has some minor flaws and defects, but what is perfect in this world?With much support, some great titles, and so much more to come, it has longevity.

The Dreamcast (which IMO is a great console) failed due to Sega's lack of money, which they flushed mostly on advertising for hyping up such. As well as the fact it was so easy to burn DC games and use a loader disc to play them onto the console, with no use of actually modding the system. All you had to do was head on over to your local video store and rent a few games, burn them, and pop them in the DC and play. These are the reasons why the Dreamcast failed.

The video game industry has come along quite a bit in the last couple of years. 360 may have a few issues, may have had a rough start, but overall is a solid system. Xbox Live and all of it's content and community are great. Gears Of War had a massive success. Halo 3 is on the way. Several titles rumored to be PS3 exclusives have been announced as 360 titles as well.

The question we should be asking is "who cares?" If you're a true gamer you'll just enjoy what is out there to play on the market for the time being.

MS has such a great 2007 with Blue Dragon, Madden, Halo 3, Mass Effect, Assasians Creed, GTA 4, Splinter Cell Conviction, Lost Oddyssy, and a host of sports games and PGR4 that it will have an amazing 2007.

As for 2008 only a complete idiot would think a powerful company like MS won't have anything. Let me just say that Dead Rising (million seller) Lost Planet (million seller) Crackdown (near million seller) Cry-On (new Mystwalker rpg) Ninja Gaiden 2 (welll known franchise) Devil May Cry 4 (million seller) Gears of War (sold 3 million + so better believe its being worked on now and will be a excluive) Alan Wake, Too Human, Banjo 3, another 2 Rare games, Halo Wars, a new Bungie IP, The Force Unleashed, Resident Evil 5, and whatever new suprises to be announced at X07 will insure a very strong 2008. Sony is nearly eight million systems behind the360 and with MS's 2007 lineup it can only hope to be competitive, but it won't ursurp the 360 in any way. Cows are living in fantasy land if they believe otherwise.

Even when MGS4, FF, and Killzone arrive next year they will face Gears of War 2, sequels to existing newmillion seller IP's on the 360 (Dead Rising, Lost Planet) a wealth of titles across the board, whatever suprises MS has in store, Banjo 4, Halo Wars, and the simple fact that a company like MS doesn't give up leads once it has one. Now to the Wii, yes, the 360 will be passed in sales, but IMO the Wii is for a different market. That's just my opinion. But with a major focus on keeping that huge lead on Sony in 2007, whgile using X07 to hammer home why 2008 won't change things at all, MS is poised to simply stay aheadof PS3 the whole generation long.

I've got news for cows, the 360 is going nowhere, it has a stellar lineup, great third party support, and lot's and lot's of money to throw around. FYI Peter Moore left Microsoft for family reasons, not because X-box is a sinking ship. 360 is affordable, it has great games, great upcoming games, great third party support, and great graphics, tell me, how is the 360 going to fail again? Granted, the hardware is unreliable, but I have a free 3 year warranty, so I have no worries.

PS3 has finally got some great games, but the cows arrogance is astonishing, for only finally catching up the the 360 in terms of awesome games, get a grip cows, PS3 isn't the second coming or anything, PS3 had a great E3, I'm just as excited as you guys are to get my hands on some awesome PS3 titles, but the Killzone and PS rules threads are old.

Personally I think it's too early to say which console will falter. PS3 just dropped in price and is finally just picking up ff the ground in sales. The 360 has been on the market a bit longer and therefore has more titles at the time being. It's also cheaper. However if I had the money and all I'd go purchase a PS3 right now (hardware wise, it is a smarter decision, IMO). There's not many Wii titles out there that excite me, therefore I won't purchase a Wii. I'll simply get drunk and play at my friend's house! Lol. But if we think about it this way, when Xbox was first released some of the same things were said. Well MS obviously did something smart to keep their console alive. I doubt they'd just lay down now or anytime soon. It's going to be a fun generation with the new system wars. Let's all just enjoy it.worthyofnote

The PS3 is a saturn, high price, low sales and the bundles to make up for it. Sony came off a huge 2 gens and just blew it. The 360 is fine, games sell systems and the 360 has a ton and even a lot they stole from sony. The 360 is a safe bet and outselling the PS3 every month.

On to my point. What about all the contests and backing from consumer products such as Pepsi/Mountain Dew and the Transformers promotion? McDonald's and BurgerCon, as well as Dorito's and Unlock Xbox. These are great marketing tactics. It's all about raking in the dough and keeping people happy.I haven't seen any of the such coming from Sony or Nintendo. Not to say that Sony or Nintendo won't keep us happy, they always have. I sure hope they take the sameroute in promoting their consoles and keeping us all happy.However, like I said before, MS and the 360 aren't going down without a decent fight.

All valid points. And I do understand the logical fallacies in the price drop of the PS3, and by that I mean the release of the 80gig model. I do understand that the 20gig model has been disbanded and the 60 is basically the new 20. The 80 is ridiculous anyways, you're basically paying for 20gigs more drive space, and the emulation of backwards compatability. The 60 is the smartest choice. And you could always spend relatively 100 bucks more on a larger capacity drive if one would choose so. And you are right, the PS3 is not the PS. It doesn't exactly have to struggle to find an audience, since Sony has already established one for it with it's predecessors. It still has many years ahead of it. Of course, the 360 has many years as well.

As well as the original Xbox has established an audience for the 360. It's what predecessors do. I only wish Sega had enough funds and support to release another console! Lol. I was a big fan of the Genesis. Still am.

True. All valid points. MS is a mulit-billion dollar international corporation. Of course they have tons of money. Sony is such a company as well. The only difference being Windows software.What ticks me off a bit about the PS3 is no slot for memory cards. If we play backwards compatible games, how do we upload old saves? We have to buy the memory card expansion kit which is like 15 bucks. Then again, same could be said for the Xbox to the 360.

And if you read my earlier posts, you will also see I agree. I am content with normal dvds.

True, but what comparisions that can be made are the facts in hardware and specs. Then again the Dreamcast is close to 8 or so years old?

The only comparison that people are trying to make is it the 360 will falter and fall of like the Dreamcast or not. 360 has more support and MS, a large corporation with plenty of funds to keep it going. Sega lacked funds. Only real comparisions that can be made there.
