Both are completely a waste and wont sell a lot of consoles.briguyb13
Yea
Microsoft: HDMI is not needed
A little bit later they release 360 with HDMI
Microsoft: PS3 can't do 1080p and isn't needed
They release update so 360 can "supposedly" do 1080p
Sony announces Home
Microsoft: Are going to release a new home s-t-y-l-e online feature
Microsoft: Blu Ray is not needed nor the extra space
They are going to release HD DVD drives now
Microsoft should just stick to Software IMO

You fanboys are so amusing. They can have an addon for hd dvd for the people who want it, and that's o.k., but they can't have a built-in hd dvd drive for the people who want it?
Do you guys even think before you type?
farrell2k
I guess your the one thats not thinking, Microsoft said that Blu-ray isnt needed. Extra space and Next-gen Movies ( HD-DVD or Blu-ray ) isnt need, so they bashed the PS3 for having it ... now Microsoft is doing the same thing...

It isn't required for the Xbox, it's a feature for those that want it as an addon, and now they are creating a high priced model for those who want the whole package and are willing to pay more. The games are still gonna be on DVD9s. The ps3 doesn't give you this choice, and you have to pay more because of it.
[QUOTE="jasonen"]360 doesn't require it but I don't see how this hurts the ps3 considering the 20GB cost $379 the 40GB cost $399 and all come with Blu ray
nearly the SAME price as the 20GB xbox 360 $349. Sony ps3 already has the whole package on all sku.
I guess Microsoft is getting desperate now :p

1) HDMI and 1080p. I don't own a 360 with HDMI. I also don't use 1080p output. My 360 still works just fine. HDMI and 1080p are not needed, the Wii is pretty good proof of that. MS just gave people the option to use HDMI and 1080p if they want. How is that a bad thing?2) Home. Not exactly the most original idea. Google Second Life or the dozens of other social networking programs. To say MS is ripping of Sony is like saying PSN is a rip off of XBL.
3) HD-DVD. Much like HDMI and 1080p, show me where it says I'm going to need an HD-DVD drive to play games on my 360. Also this is just a rumor, don't post like it is fact.
yeah but read what I said.
Sony ps3 already has the whole package on all sku the cheapest $379. how does this help microsoft? HD-DVD drive cost $169. If you strip the PS3 take away blu ray add A CHEAP DVD drive as is what they have because those things ARE LOUD! PS3 can easly cost $250 but of course we can't say that because blu ray player actualy cost more then $169
Huh? How is a PS3 without a BR player supposed to play all these games on BR disks? The cell isn't that powerful.yeah but read what I said.

I think Sony would be more in the postion to get desperate rigth now.
360 is selling well, PS3 on the other hand, seems to do nearly everything wrong.
Not to mention that the whole PS3 concept relies on small ripoffs from other companies ideas.
Now I don't say that MS doesn't do this, but it's kinda funny how you wrote that post on the first page of this thread about MS following in Sony's footsteps.

Sony: Rumble is last-gen.
Lets stop the Sony praising bs. All companies make stupid remarks and then contradict themselves down the line.
HD-DVD or Blu-Ray is not needed!!!! MS said that about GAMES and GAMES ONLY!!!!! Movies on the other hand need the space IF you care about it and for those that care they can have HD-DVD or Blu-Ray.
MS said HD-DVD or Blu-Ray is not needed after Sony makes the statement it is needed which was said just to get people to understand why they are forced into buying it with their gaming system.
MS never said 1080p is not needed its just the console did not release with it but with an update they put it in. HDMI was added because of VGA not beind favored over HDMI, they nver said it wasnt needed its just that they had their own idea with VGA working the same.
Now to the Topic Creator why is it that you devote your life to Sony? Is it that you know the system is not doing good so spreading news helps your own mind to justify your purchase?

Who cares if they do it won't be used for games so will not effect me. Oh and why do you use N4G.com its the worst fanboy site about makes SDF look good.

No they don't.
Sony: Rumble isn't needed / Sony: Oh hey, check out the daul shock 3.....With RUMBLE!
Sony: Multiple SKUs aren't needed ? Sony: PS3s come in 20, 40, 60 and 80 GIG SKU's
They both do it. Stop acting like MS is the only one that backpedals on things they say......

Sony has a problem with Immersion, sony has to settle a suit or somthing so they coudnt have Rumble out on the start.
PS3 fans also asked sony to bring Rumble ;)

BLu-ray will, people are actually that stupid trust me.
Poor 360 fanboys blindly defending a company that keep make a fool out of them, at least sony don't make new sku's with superior hardwarePaddy345
Err, yes they do. Remember the 80B model's introduction?
They also make new SKU's with inferior hardware too.
Did you put any thought at all into this post?
Imagine what 360 fanboys would do if sony released the ps3 with no full high def, no blu ray player andusb slots and then announced they were going to make a new one with these included, looks like elite users aren't so elite after all:lol:
Sony is bad but not this bad
its still a rumour...
not to mention no games would be on the format....
So it would just help push sales for the film format and not stick games on it.
thats if it comes out, this console if it comes out. Is going to be like the PSX console.
A media center, and wontr use the HD DVD drive for games at all...

read what other people have posted.
Games wont come out on the HD DVD format.
Seeing as MS said that when the add on drive came out, it just means its a PSX for the 360, ( A media hub)

naughtydog360
Neither blu-ray og HD-dvd is 'needed' on a console IMO. And so far it has led the PS3 to be far more expensive that it should.
But if MS throw it in there for 'free' when the prices on HD-DVD-drives drop that surely can't be bad thing for those that don't want to spend money on a separate player. Unless you're a Sony fanboy nitpicking of course.
...at least sony don't make new sku's with superior hardwarePaddy345
That's so true. Sony is going the other way - every single sku they release of the PS3 now is worse and lacks in features compared to the launch PS3 because they finally realized that the original PS3 (which is the one to have if you want good features) was too pricey.
That's a pretty weird way to do stuff IMO.

When the 360 was released, HD-DVD was not done, and they had to wait for it to be done. 1080p was not really out on TV's when the 360 came out.........so waht's your point?

Look..all of your games that were supposedly superior because of Blu-ray have flopped, every last one of them. All BD is good for right now is so they can store uncompressed Audio(Heavenly Sword, RFOM) and copy the game multiple times on one disc so that it can run faster(Oblivion). Blu-ray does nothing for gaming right now.[QUOTE="naughtydog360"][QUOTE="farrell2k"]You fanboys are so amusing. Lest you forget, the PS3 is only on average 50.00 more expensive than the 360 now. So the "it's too expensive" whining does not hold weight anymore. And the "it has no games" accusation is complete BS as well. But, fanboys will be fanboys and ignore these fine little details still, I am sure, lol.
360 premium 350.00/40GB PS3 399.00
360 Elite 450.00/80GB PS3 499.00
Microsoft is offering options and choices with HD-DVD. PS3 shoves blu-ray down your throat with every SKU. If you don't want an HD-DVD equipped xbox then don't buy it.
Cows have no room for argument here..... As pathetic as PS3 is right now I can understand that cows need to grasp for straws sometimes.

Grasping for straws? The PS3 is only on average 50.00 more expensive than the 360 is right now, and you get blu ray included. However, if you decide to buy all of these "options" for your 360 in order to make it equal to a PS3 feature wise, then you will be paying quite a bit more.
So, only 50.00 more for a PS3 that has everything that Microsoft is trying to milk as an "add on" actually sounds like a pretty good deal to me, lol. Only 50.00 more than a 360 with Blu Ray included is hardly a rip off, bud. Like it or not.

Hehe, this is true but God help us if Sony ever tried to make an OS.
Oh, and for the built in HD DVD thing, how much of this "idea" is Toshiba's doing. They are going full out against Blu-Ray of late, and may have given MS a deal to make it integrated since the 360 is doing very well in the U.S. (note U.S.).

Wow, you do understand that Sony had to drop their price on the PS3 because it's falling further and further behind the console sales race, don't you???
Sony is taking HUGE loses on the PS3, all in the order to try and save the PS3 from becoming the next dreamcast.
You are forgetting the MS is in a lot better situation to drop prices further than Sony is. But I don't see them dropping prices on the 360 unless the PS3 starts outselling it for a few months.
And how on earth do you know that the HD-DVD 360won't be priced around the same as the hacked cheapened version (40 GB) of the PS3.
And "Yes", it's (PS3)a rip off righ now because the PS3 has a horrid gaming library. Maybe late 2008, it might be worth it, but the 360 is the gaming machine this gen right now, and doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon.
