So it's been a while coming but I decided to make this post on System Wars which I usually avoid like the plague. But recently I've come to a huge debate whether or not to buy a great gaming PC... or to get a Premium 360 and a decent moderately priced HDTV to play it on.

I used to be a huge gamer, but lately I've been doing schoolwork nonstop and working all the time at Jimmy Johns. I'll be graduating from High School around the middle of November which is shortly after my birthday on September 24th. I've saved up a pretty good portion of money and should have around $700 by the time I get to my birthday. But... I will be getting graduation money, and birthday money from friends and family so I'm hoping to have a pretty hefty sum on cash.

So there lies the question. What should I spend it on? I've decided to treat myself to a new gaming machine so that when I hit college I'll have something to do in my spare time and something to allow me to relax and exit reality for a while. I'll list each platform and weigh the pros and cons. I know that it really comes down to what I want but I thought I'd ask some of your opinions and what you would do if you were in my situation.

(I'm not buying a PS3 or a Wii. Fanboys get over it and don't try to convince me)

PC

+ Always wanted a good gaming PC

+ PC Exclusives I'd love to play such as Vampire: The Masquerade, Crysis, Far Cry 2, and Hellgate: London

+ Mods, great online play, and upgradeable hardware.

- Price

- There is something nice about being able to sit on a couch and play a game, so I'd say that is a small drawback.

360

+ 360 games such as GTA4, Halo 3, and Assassin's Creed

+ Price, and Xbox Live

- Not as powerful as a good PC

I'd go with a 360 anyday.

Though you could get a real good PC and a 360 USB controller for cheaper than a 360 and HDTV.

If you aren't playing games as much as you used to, get a PC. You will find many more uses for a PC in the future. A 360 will just sit there collecting dust, while a PC you can do your homework and so much more on.

That is part of the reason I built a PC. I knew if I bought a console it would just sit ther collecting dust.

If all you're looking for is games, get a 360. If you need to do more than just play games, get a PC.

360 pro: Go to store buy game. Take game home, place into 360, play game 30 seconds later. HD movies on demand.

360 con: Games not as pretty as a mid to high level PC. Good chance it will die on you.

PC pro: Games library is pretty vast and varied. Upgradable.

PC con: Installing games can be a hassel, some games place restrictions on how many times it can be installed (I'm looking at YOU Bioshock). Upgrades can cost $$$ if you want to stay on the bleeding edge.

But at the end of the day, it's up to you to make up your own mind.

Oh, and when you go off to college, if you're not living at home plan on having very little space for a home theater setup. But I'm probably not telling you anything you don't allready know.

I doubt he is saying he doesn't have a computer. Everyone has a computer.

The price of a high end gaming computer is over $1000 and a 360 is 279.00. If you can afford to pay $1000 for a gaming Pc why can't you afford $279 and own both? It's best of two worlds unless all you want to play is RTS, FPS and those MMORPG

Sure I have 2 of them myself, but with a new comp he can get Vist and everything that comes with it. Also a monitor upgrade, speakers. So much more. More harddrive space, possible HD movies. A new PC is perfect for him.

Get 2 360's and mod them together. You'll get twice the power.

I agree with yours, but you also forgot to add that a PC pro is that he can do much more with it(homework, business work, internet, research, etc.) than he can do with a 360.

BTW, haha your sig is off of Spaceballs, is it not? lmao i love that movie

I'm going to guess that you've been using a computer already at home, but haven't really gone "techie" yet. I really don't reccomend PC gaming for none tech people. If you're willing to jump through some hoops PC gaming is awesome, but if you aren't it's expensive and a giant headache.

My guess is if you bought a PC it would be loaded up with so much malware the first month you won't be able to play any games on it. I don't want to sound elitest or anything but PC gaming is really for PC people, and if you're not one by now you'll probably never be one.
