Just a week after the spectacular launch of "Halo 3," the developer of the game, Bungie Studios, announced it is splitting away from Microsoft and to once again become an independent company.

Microsoft bought then Chicago-based Bungie back in 2000 and the original "Halo" game was one of the launch titles for Microsoft's Xbox360, its first foray into the console gaming world. Since then the "Halo" franchise has sold nearly 15 million games, with "Halo 3" reaching $300 million in global sales in its first week on the market.

the question now! what is the Official Killer of 360?????

Wii still have ZELDA! Mario, and SSBB

PS3 maybe have MGS

Not only is this hella old, but part of the split was apparently a "first right of refusal" deal which means MS has first dibs on publishing all Bungie games. Also MS still owns the rights to the Halo franchise, and Bungie plans to work on future Halo titles.

Hmmm you know nothing of Bungie do you? Bungie released other much less stellar games for other systems like Oni for PS2. Their ONE big title was Halo. Bungie is famous for and only for Halo. No other game they produced was a hit.

Funny thing is, MS retains the right to the Halo name.

Microsoft still has the right to the Halo franchise right? That means the next Halo game is coming albeit from another developer. I could care less about this overhyped franchise anyways.

Umm...kay So....just because bungie is no longer Microsoft's B!tch, does this really mean our 360s are gonna lose without halo? (Oh no, whatever will we do??) Halo 3 is STILL not on my list of games to get, and isn't likely to ever be on my list I've got 18 games for my 360, and i've never been more satisfied with my (2nd) Xbox 360 (yes, i've had a 3RROD after 18 months on my launch box) but i wasn't about to give up on my investment, i've had no malfunctions on my 2nd 360 My only annoyance with MS is they're stingy about the prices of accessory hardware, not to mention their OS software, as if i'm gonna pay £100+ for a PC 120GB HDD i could probably pick up for....£30-40, and it's still the same technology nothing new about it.

Isnt the halo franchise 100% owned by Microsoft? I think i read something about it. (Yeah i know Bungie developed Halo, but the rights and trademark stuff was Microsoft's i think). I am not 100% sure though.

The XBOX's time is UP? I heardPS3fanboys trying to tellthatbefore the PS3 launch ... look now, xbox is doing more than fine. PS3 is falling behind expectations (not to say its doing bad, i like my PS3 and hope it gets up to speed). But XBOX is strong right now, and willcontinue to be.

The Wii is anotherthing, its selling really strong andi await a great drop in sales once the "Novelty" factor ofthe controls wear of. With the new Mario however it got some goodpublicity. Anyway,XBOX Brand wont die from that, especially since they dramaticallyincreased success since the last generation. Its a process of evolving a brand name, that sony already had a generation before MS entered the consolemarket.

So i would say, MS is a big competitor in the next gens (itactually is already!)

Try to see thing a littlemore objective, halo3 isstillthe major selling video game. So wheres your problem? What did other flagship-games sell on the other consoles?
