So as of early 2009 I was reading that multiplats for the 360 and PS3 looked better, ran better (framerate), and played better (no lag online), on the 360 with a few exceptions. I finally got myself a PS3, and want to know if this is still the case with the newer games. I never worried about this since I only had a 360, but now that I have both I would prefer to get the better game. Of course if the difference is nearly nonexistant, then I'll probably get it on the PS3. But can you guys give me comparisons of some newer games (RDR, Street Fighter, CoD, BFBC, Borderlands). Is the framerate on the PS3 just as good now? I think the graphics have never really been noticably different, but shouldn't they look a lot better on the PS3 by now? And also, how is the PS3 online compared to 360's?

Note that this isn't a comparison of exclusives. It's already pretty much a given that most PS3 exclusives look better than 360 exclusives.

Also I am not talking about Fallout 3 GOTY and Dragon Age Origins, because I already know that there are pretty big differences in quality for those two. I'm wondering if there are any other games that have big differences? And is online for PS3 just as good as XBL for multiplats?

Digital Foundry comparisons are probably your best bet (just google *game name* Digital Foundry comparison). However you could also give Lens of Truth a go.

I believe there is also a list giving a general idea of which multiplat turned out better on what system. I forget where it is though :P

The best site to go to is probably - www.lensoftruth.com Failing that, there is also Eurogamer and their Digital Foundry.

RDR is better on the 360, no Qs asked.

All the Call of Duty's, the Street Fighters and the Battlefields are identical on both platforms, so it's probably a matter of controller preference, or which console your friends are getting it on.

Borderlands is better on the 360.

As for the online, there is NO difference in lag between the two platforms, I don't know where that myth stemmed from, but XBL has a larger community. This will be unnoticeable though since the numbers of people playing are generally high on both platforms so finding a game won't be a problem, but if you want to find more people with headsets, then XBL is the way to go. It doesn't matter to me though since I always mute people.

Most games are pretty much 99% the same. The 1% being lighting or the ps3 version lacking AA.

Street Fighter= same COD= same Borderlands= same, maybe some very minor stuff RDR= is "bettrer on the 360" only becuz it has sllightly better visuals, but thats it, it doesnt really mater You really dont need to worry so much about multiplats being better on x then y system. There are only a few games that are actually better on one system then the other. Games like Bayonetta, GhostBusters, and Fallout3 were the game runs terrible on the ps3, then yeah get the 360 version. People here like to pick little stuff that arent even noticable when playing the game, just for cheap ownage

Agreed, but what differences did you notice between RDR versions? I haven't really noticed any yet people say the 360 version is better.

RDR, Street Fighter, CoD, BFBC, Borderlands

RDR looks better on 360. Like by alot. It runs at a smoother FPS on PS3 though.

Street Fighter is close, but its more vibrant and has Anti Aliasing on 360.

BFBC 2 theres no differences really.

Borderlands actualy looks better on PS3, but is missing effects that the 360 version has like partical effects, bloom, and stuff liek that. Plus, it runs better on 360 FPS wise.

take it froma guy who stresses about this kind of stuff. Most of the time, the 360 version of said Multiplatform ends up better then the PS3 version. I can link you to legit comparison sites to prove this. however, the degree of these differences depends game by game. Sometimes theyre big, sometimes there not. However, still, 80-90 percent of the time theyre better on 360 in some way. Wether its screentearing, Textures, AA, Effects, Frame rate, etc. etc. Its rarer then the Browns winning for the PS3 version of a game to be better then the 360 version. but its as common as the Colts winning for the 360 version to be better.

The 360 version looks much more vibrant, it looks kind of washed out on the PS3 which is quite noticeable. Then again you could always increase the contrast, that mostly fixes that problem. The 360 version from what I've seen also has slightly more detail in things such as bushes, and a little less jaggies.

Always found that to be a bit confusing. Also, Its best to read teh in depth analysis rather then the final "this wins or that"

But yeah, this article proves my point.

I would also recommend this site. theyre pretty indepth: http://www.eurogamer.net/archive.php?platform=digitalfoundry&type=face-off

Youll find that most times 360 gets the nod.

Alright so 360 wins most of the time still (which I find amazing), which are the major exceptions? Dragon Age and what else? How was Batman: AA? What games for the PS3 offer more bonus content than the 360 (for example, Batman with the Joker levels and Spider-Man 3 with Green Goblin)?

Upcoming games that have exclsuive content for PS3 are Medal of honor, Mafia 2, and Dead Space 2.

Im not sure what upcoming 360 stuff is getting Exclusvie stuff outside of every Call of Duty from now until 3 years from now getting the map packs first on 360.

Batman looked better on 360. I didnt find the Joker levels to be worth getting it on PS3 over getting it on 360 where it looked better on 360 personaly. Bayonetta is balls on PS3, RDR is not quite as bad, but its still alot worse on PS3. Personaly, I would jsut look at the site I linked you, or the site youw erelinked that gave a accumulation of all the comaprisons. Or try Lensoftruth.com. Keepin mind it can take some time to formulate their findings, so you can either wait till tehy come out, or just paly it safe and get it on 360.

Most of the time the 360 gets the better version and that's before the optional game installs.

hah I checked out the site it's pretty good. I wish they had the NCAA 11 comparison since I bought it on the 360 but I doubt there's really any difference anyways. What do Medal of Honor, Mafia 2, and Dead Space 2 have exclusively for PS3? Also I don't care about timed exclusives unless it actually affects the quality of the game (Fallout 3 GOTY). I don't even get DLC from Activision anyways. **** that company.

according to various critics, the large majority of multiplats, including titles such as MW2, RDR, GTA4, the Orange Box, RE5, GRAW2 and Assassins Creed 1/2, look better on the 360.

MOH adn Dead Space 2 gets speacil PS3 Exclusvie limited Editions. The good thing about these limited editions is that they are the same price as a standard game (60 dollars) and the MOH one comes with a HD remake of MOH Frontlines and the Dead Space 2 one comes with a PS3 version fo the wii game Dead Space Extraction, which is a on rails light gun game. The game will support PS Move. And I assume tehse speacil editions will come with speacil bocing adn all that. That Mafia 2 Exclusvie DLC is Exclusive Missions on PS3. However, im eharing rumblings that Mafia 2 may not be that great on PS3 froma graphical and performance side. This si from a impression that Shacknews.coms Garnett Lee said and from soem comaprisons I saw of the two versions side by side, but that site might be questionable. But Garnett Lee did say that when he saw the PS3 version of Mafia 2 he said it looked "Rough"

i didn't say eurogamer "stated" such a claim. i said they proved it.

they proved it with their 100+ comparisons, most of which have the 360 versions as the winner.

I have heard that Batman AA looks better on the 360 as the main complaint was the black levels of the game. This often comes down to the settings in the comsole. I have played games on both platforms where the black levels were talked about as being differrent but as I have set my system up, calibrated it properly to the TV, they look all but identical. Most of the time I feel it is a matter of opinion in many cases especially when it comes to visuals. I can take my glasses off and not see any differences in textures ;) hehehehe. But that said. I too am one for comparing what games look better or sound better or have better framerates. But sometimes it doesn't matter, as they play the same look all but the same, so like I read here, it is down to your personal preference. Good lukc :)

From the 360 winning to 360 multiplats being "noticeable better" there's a huge distance.

Usually, those victories are based on unnoticeable differences.

Zooming screens x500, measuring minimal (mostly unnoticeable) framerate drops, comparing color palettes, etc.

But the significance is most of the time very small.

It does not matter if the difference is miniscule or gigantic, the fact of the matter is that there is a difference. And that difference the majority of the time favors the Xbox 360 Superior, period. Microsoft version of games always put my mind at ease, giving me peaceful uninterrupted rapid eye movement slumber. They are the best in my personal educated reality of opinions.

"Little" differences don't signify a clear freaking winner. A "major" difference like FFXIII and Bayonetta are significant. Little differences are what we call in reality not important. Why would Eurogamer make an article about something not noticable between two games? To get hits, money, popularity, etc, etc.
