Seriously, 360 is a brilliant console and all, but my god, has anyone played 360 on a a rear projection(NOT HD) tv? its rediculous, its like everything comes out "double".

and Plamsa TV, i own a Pioneer HDTV, worth 3k, and played Gears Of war, and the amount of pixels and jaggies on screen were horrific. I reduced the sharpness and everything, but still quite jaggy and dotty.

360 on LCD HD looks godly however, nice n smooth, no jaggies or anything.

My ps3 however seeems to be running nicely on all my Tvs. no double screens, no dotty pixelated or jaggied on Plasmas.

Anyone encounter this problem?

The amount of "jaggies" you see will depend on both the size of the TV you're using and its quality.  Playing 720p games on a large 1080p TV will result blockier pixels, since its not the native resolution.

rear projection sucks... nothing to do with the 360.... maybe your 360 is broken? i play with a HD projector on a 100 INCH screen. no jaggie, no pixelated textures... (ofcourse there are some when you zoom in on things)

Tried to use component for your PS3? It might be some issue with your TV. I use a rear projection HDTV, and have tried it on a friend's RP SDTV and don't see any problem in either...

They are fine for video games. Just don't pause your game for 24 hours or more.

You have to be careful buying plasma, half the ones sold are those Enhanced Definition versions that have resolutions under 720p. I had this guy invite me over to look at his killer new state of the art plasma and I was looking through the owners manual and the thing showed like 548 progressive or some such nonsence. Now I didn't bring it up or anything because I am not one of those insufferable HI-DEF snobs that everyone hates, and he was so damn proud of it, but still funny stuff.

Cost to replace a bulb in a rear projection HDTV $200-$400. Cost to recharge a plasma screen when it starts to go dim...... wait, you can't recharge a plasma screen so you have to buy a whole new set. That's the hidden charge of owning a plasma screen. Oh, and I own a 52" DLP HDTV and Gears looks just fine. Make sure the switch on your AV cable on the back of your 360 is set from TV to HDTV, because that sounds like the problem to me!

I think that you need to be brought up to speed on just how far plasma has advanced in recent years.

Do you realize what the current life of plasma sets currently is? 60,000 hours. That means if you watch your plasma screen 24 hours a day year round and NEVER turn it off it will start to dim after very nearly 7 years.

Now since we don't leave our TVs on all the time, you can expect your Plasma set to stay good for about 14 years or so (assuming you watch TV 12 hours a day every day of the year).

So it's nothing to worry about.

Yes and did you know the bulb for a DLP is about 80,000 hours? and then just replace bulb not entire set.

The bulb life of a DLP is not 80,000 hours. It's less than 10,000.

Where did you hear that it was 80,000?

There's so many things wrong in this thread. DLP bulbs are good for about two years on normal viewing habits. DLPs are great, if you don't see the rainbow effect, and you don't sit off at an angle. LCDs are great, if you're not a videophile, because they have poor contrast, ghosting, and are subject to uneven backlighting by the time you get up to about 40" or larger.

Plasmas are better at displaying blacks as well as significantly more colors in general, don't ghost, and have a 60,000h half-life which as pointed out already by another poster, is a long time; approximately 20 years at 8h/day. Plasmas require care when new in order to avoid burn-in, but after break-in are largely burn-in free unless you bought a cheap brand. While plasmas often do have a lower resolution than LCDs, subjective tests often tend to prefer the level of detail offered by the plasma's superior PQ. Plasmas win hands-down for movie viewing and, in the hands of anyone mature enough to care for it properly when new, are superior to LCDs for gaming, and to DLPs at the very least for those who see the rainbow or sit off at an angle.

I game on a Panasonic plasma, and enjoy it immensely and am aware of forums full of other home theater enthusiasts and videophiles who do the same.
