I haven't tried any of the 3DTV related stuff, but I have played World of Warcraft in 3D and it was a blast. I am holding out on 3Dtv technology because I always wait until there is a few iterations of the product out and give them time to improve the technology. I am going to rock out the 2nd iteration of the 3DS, unless the line up brainwashing me in buying it.

I agree I got my 3D vision glasses a few days ago and the games look amazing. From Resident Evil 5 to old games like Halo all look, and play fantastic in 3D.

It's funny how conservative many gamers are, especially given their youth (not all but some) and that video games is still a rather fresh medium. I can't afford it atm, but I'm looking forward to the day I can :)!

Theres alway the wait in the waiting game. I bought a 3 grande tv few year ago and wish i never bought it so i would buy one now but i had it though. by the time when they release glassless 3d, 3323x2320 4030p tv would be next and im not joking, theres a prototype already.

waiting is always good , either you get better stuff later or the same stuff for less cash , but you'll have to invest once and then you're bound to question youre purchase later when you see the new devices or just lower prices for the same , it's same with pc's , cars , cell-phones etc.

It's a very weak argument that because you have to wear glasses to see the actual effect, it isn't a good thing. I wear glasses and that's the most stupidest argument I have heard in SW. Though I could understand if the glasses isn't comfortable but just because you don't feel "cool" wearing glasses is just dumb and retarded.

I'll propably look into it when I upgrade my PC sometime in the future. I doubt I'll be getting a 3DTV though, sounds like an expensive experiment and with my luck they'd come out with a glassless version the day after I bought one. The monitors are very reasonably priced though.

I've heard nothing buy good things in regards to Wipeout and GT5, but am yet to try them. I've decided to make my next tv 3d. I'm not completely sold on it for movies--as I think 3D has its greatest effect on an enormous screen, but for games it seems like natural evolution. Playstation Move with 3D? Having an entire new way of controlling games? I don't see how people could be against that, unless they are the brain dead "give me more fps games next gen please" types.

It's a technology withs lots of interesting potential. Unfortunately, I think the applications available for it at the moment aren't worth it given the barriers to current adoption fo the technology.

Just got a new tv and decided against the 3D this time. I did not try games at the best buy but I did watch some blue ray in 3d and wasn't that impressed. Then again I know a lot of movies don't do 3d right and it's just something they threw in so they could say "3d". As a side note, when going to the movies and I have choice of 3d or no 3d, I usually go to the no 3d. The only recent movie I chose 3d was avatar at the IMAX and I'll admit it was done real well. I'll stay tuned for how the technology progresses when I make future purchases, so I'm not ruling it out.

Yeah most movies dont look all that better in 3D, some look better than others in 3D like Avetar, But its not as impressive as the game IMO. Games like Left 4 Dead, and RE5 were made with 3D in mind because the look amazing in 3D. Not all games work well in 3D though I tried Mass Effect 2, and the crosshair was still 2d and it made my eyes hurt, and you had to anable the Nvidia 3d lasser so you could actually aim. Even some older games work well in 3d, like the original Halo. I think 3D is the real deal, once the prices go down on 3D HDTV's I be so to get one, for now I will enjoy 3D on the PC 8)

Avatar was made for 3D. Most times they make the movies in 2D then try to add a few tacked on 3D effects afterwards in order to say it's in 3D to generate a few more bucks the only movies that I've seen that was worth it in 3D was Avatar, Tron and Jackass :P

3d graphics - never looked so good in videogames , if youre driving a car you can see much better in front of you and plan your lines accordingly , in shooters aiming feels much more natural because you can see depth

AmnesiaHaze

Current 3D displays has less quality than 2D ones 8at least this is sure in the 100% of current PC monitor displays), and I think that the 3D decreases your aiming in shooters, ruining your k/d ratios.

3D on TVs is totally meh IMO. The best 3D in my experience was at Disney Land. The Muppet movie that I saw had amazing depth and really gave the sensation that objects were protruding from the screen. 3DTV adds a little depth but not enough for me to buy a new TV and those expensive glasses.

dont know what you mean by less quality ? But games look way better in 3D on my PC than they do in 2D. But yeah you are right about playing competitive gaming with them is a bad idea. I recommend them for single player games. Even though COD blackops looks really good in 3D my aim was way off with 3D. 2 FPS that worked really well with 3d was L4D and Halo. I have only tried a few games in 3d only had the 3d glasses for about a week now.

I mean 3D displays needs 120 Hz or bigger, and in monitor displays this means TN panels, which are the very top bottom in quality.

As long as SIPS and MVA panels keep rendering at 60-75-85 Hz, making indeed impossible to play 3D at them, call me not interested. Maybe with OLED ones in 4 years or so...

Well I'm sure higher quality Minitors will come eventually. Though I've always though TN monitors were good enough for gaming. And they have way less input lag, which imo should matter more to gamers, at least it does to me.

It's because of a few things imo: 1. The general expense (3D HDTV, 3D glasses for each person, 3D capable consoles and movie players etc) 2. The need to wear those stupid glasses (regardless of what you personally think) 3. The hassle (having to get a 3D HDTV and 3D capable console or movie player, finding 3D content) When those things are sorted I promise you will see far more people truly excited about 3D

in fact i dont care if it will be mainsteam as long as the tech is available for me , sure the larger the attach rate the more /better games will be , but ithink thatthe support will be only better no matter how fast the user base grows , we already have a great lineup coming with crysis , killzone , uncharted , i just wanted to post a brief summary from my impressions for people that are considering 3D but may be insecure to buy one after reading all the criticism online (mostly by people who didnt even try it yet)

Wearing classes on top of my glasses is not fun. No matter how I adjust the 3D pair or my prescription pair, right behind my ears, where the arms of the glasses rest get really sore and even iritated. Until I can do 3D without glasses, I will pass.

I understand where you are coming from, but the notion of what 3D may do for gaming is pretty sweet. A lot of things have grown stale over the years. 3D will reinvigorate innovation within the industry with the ability for developers to use completely new control schemes. Even new controllers are a possibility, maybe even necessity. I support it for that reason.

I agree, I've been enjoying it since I was born. Pretty sure driving would be incredibly dangerous without it.

Ive tried it on consoles and pc and its good at times and MEH at others.

Also another time it gave me a headache.

Its cool and all but its not a MUST right now for me, I would rather build another computer and some music equipment with that money to be honest.

Interested in it for gaming, but not for movies.... only 1/4 3d movies I saw were any good or worth it.

yes i agree there is much differnce on how the 3D is programmed , wipeout is probably my current favorite from the visual aspect , i have my music equipment already setup - technics turnies and a vestax mixer so i dont need to invest in that department anymore , i prefer home-cinema/console stuff more than pcs so its great for me , i would buy a new bigger tv anyways this year so i bought a 3D and not regretting it , im lucky i dont get headaches from 3D , was worried about that too to be honest before i've tried it
