When asked for information on this planned improvement, a source familiar with Xbox 360 development hinted at an E3 announcement.

"They'd be mad not to do it, is all I can say," said our source. "The machine is not only very capable, it's more capable than the PlayStation 3 of doing stereo, assuming you don't have one of the old crappy ones with the composite leads... assuming you have a HDMI Xbox.

"The bottleneck is more on the graphical throughput for rendering out in stereo."

--------

3D Halo 1 Remake with Reach Engine? as one of the first releases?

Anyways, 3D isn't dead and won't die unless something better comes out.

LOL I love the "The machine is not only very capable, it's more capable than the PlayStation 3 of doing stereo" But the sad part for millions..... "assuming you don't have one of the old crappy ones with the composite leads" I think most are waiting for glasses-less 3D. Saw that LGs doing a new 3DTV with those cheap glasses you get at the theater.

Useless Tech..honestly, this is one area where MS doesn't need to be a "me too."

Perhaps the Xbox (3) and PS (4) will have Glasses-Free 3D...

Imho, 3D is very gimmicky. I don't care if it's in games, or not, as long as devs don't put too much time into supporting it.

not only that but the consoles aren't really powerful enough to run 3D without compromising the visuals. as we know many games struggle achieve 720p. I think they should wait for next gen before going for 3D. Imagine a machine running 1080p 60fps in 3D.

wow, then the games will be running at 720p and at 10fps. Also, how does it make sense that its more capable for 3D compared to PS3? I mean the PS3 is more powerful at the end of the day.

3D is freaken awesome. But like a small amount actually do it right. I know people seen bad 3D... I have too. But if you know what to see... Your in for a treat.

COD is really trippy in 3D. KZ3 looks awesome except for the visible cross talk.

So it's very capable of Sterescopic 3D apart from it not having sufficient computational power?

Can't wait to impress all the ladies I bring home with it. I'm very capable of charming women despite being unattractive and possessing no charm whatsoever.

I love the ignorance. PC's have been able to do this for quite some time

1080p at 60 fps in 3D? Did I miss something because I'm rather sure that my PC can't manage that.

Should'nt it be "high end multi GPU PCs can do 1080p. 60 fps in 3D"? For comparison's sake, consoles can't do 720p, 30 fps, no 3D, no AA all that well as of right now, of course.

Depends on the game. Stuff like the CoD games an UE3 games will run flawlessly at 1080p in 3D with 60FPS. Could always lower detail too. Nvidia has had stereo 3D drivers since before the original Far Cry. Consoles do have 720p 3D actually. Well, some games. Doesn't say how well they run though. No AA of course.

And I thought the 360 had too low of a bandwidth capacity to do 720p 3D with the conventional methods (Or probably just cause its Nvidia 3D for PS3 that works differently.)

Hmm, Guess I should fork over the dough for a pair of glasses and a new monitor to do some testing ;)

About consoles..... They're currently struggling to even imitate (console gfx are 50% advertising) modern visual fidelity by now, so I highly doubt we're going to see much in the way of meaningfull 3D. Console Devs should focus on getting their fps back above a permanent 30 before anything else imho.

I just got a 3D tv with the passive glasses a couple of weeks ago. I could not be more excited. The day the Xbox goes 3D is the day I can ditch the PS3 completely.

sli gtx 460 will work great for 3d gaming at 1080p with high framerate in pretty much every game as long as you don't go overboard with the AA like 16xQCAA. Game will look great with just 4xmsaa at that resolution and using the extra gpu power towards rendering in stereo 3d as opposed to extra AA. I mean my 5770 handles 1080p 3d surprisingly well in games although frame rate isn't smooth in some games without dropping the settings like dead rising 2 or burnout but stuff like Alpha ptorocol,Team Fortress 2,Left 4 Dead 2, Dead Space, Dirt 2, and Assassins creed 2 run decently at max settings in 3D and look fantastic the sense of depth is really incredible!

How does your 5770 support 1080p 3D? Pretty sure its only 720p with AMD cards. Unless its something to do with the 3D format since Mitsubishiscan use checkerboxing. From what I read its like a compressed format, kinda like Dolby Digital compraed to Dolby TrueHD. Still, didn't know AMD cards supported that :P

Any modern graphics cards supports 3d in 1080p its just a manner of getting it to work at 60fps as opposed to 24fps. I use IZ3D to play my games in 3d because i have a mitshubishi 3D DLP that uses checkerboard i can play in 1080p with 60fps as opposed to being limited to 24fps i don't know if it loses some resolution or something but looks alot better then 720p frame packing 3D the clarity and detial you'd expect from games running at 1080p along with the added depth of 3D. The only other way i know to get 1080p 3D at 60fps is to use nvdia 3d vision kit on a compatable 120hz monitor with a nvidia card. I hope they comeout with a new cable that can handle the full bandwidth of 1080p 3D at 60fps and start using that as a standard because checkerboard is no longer supported it seems and i'd rather not be locked into nvidia methods(altough for pc gamers willing to invest its the best 3d solution out their) till then i will stick with my DLP for my 3d gaming needs before investing in another 3d t.v unless they happen to support checkerboard.

So you think I might be pleased with a decent 120 Hz monitor and my current setup? It's not like I ever actually do 16xQCAA unless it's a source game. Normally, I just go with 16xAA which I believe is CSAA.

I wish 3D was dead, again. It's a gimmick. Not to mention the 10% of people who can't see the 3d effect and the 20% who get headaches from prolonged exposure.

Microsoft fighting Sony in the battle of 3D? This I would like to see.
