Me and my friends were looking at video games on wikipedia in French class and we came across a system called the 3DO.

Now I had never heard of it and I asked them if they knew what it was and they said they had one!

So is it a good system with good games or something? Coz i have never heard of it...

Well how about this. It had two Zelda games. One of the was called... hmm.. Wand of Gamelon or something like that? I think it also had a game where Mario had to search through Motels. If you like games like that then you would love the 3DO.

I own a 3DO. I bought it a few months back. It certainly doesn't come close to justifying the price that it was launched at, but I only payed 50 dollars for it. It's got a select group of awesome games. Wolfenstein, DinoPark, Doom, Return Fire, Gex, Samurai Shodown, Need for Speed, ect. Certainly good for a few hours of fun every now and again.

I really don't mean to sound stupid here but why would you buy it? Most of the games can be played on other systems and certainly at a much higher quality. I can understand buying one as a nostalgia purchase but did you own one before? Even Return Fire which was the big exclusive back then had a much better iteration on the PS1

It also has one of if not the first Naughty Dog game. A Mortal Kombat rip off if memory serves. I remember thinking about doing a grab and run at Babbages to steal this thing but it was $800 so I backed off the idea. It would have been juvie for sure and I probably wouldn't be able to set foot in the mall again even if I did get away with it. Also...it sucked.

That game Starfighter (might be messing the name up) was pretty cool too but I played it on Saturn. I remember it did come out on 3D0 first though.

Yep.. I remember test driving the 3DO right after it launched. The store had a 3DO and an Atari Jaguar right next to each other hooked up to 2 old boobtubes. The game in the 3DO was Way of the Warrior (Naughy Dog) and it was pretty tight with a White Zombie sdtrk. The Jaguar had AvP and well... if you were around back then you would know how the outcome of that would be. AvP overtook everything when it came out. That game was Godlike in every sense of the word on the Jaguar. The problem was, that's all the Jag had that was worth a damn.

One was as floptastic as the other. I can proudly say this, as I owned both of them.

All you need to know is that the 3do is pretty much on par with the ps3.

Panasonic sold an estimate of 700,000 3DO consoles over it's lifespan. How would that be on par with PS3?

I bought one upon launch. It was nice until E.A. dropped support though the first ever Need for Speed was done on the 3DO which was one of my favs. along with a awesome ( for back then ) version of Road Rash and the first ever 3D Madden football.

Twisted, is a game that is unique to this day and there were many others. The system was just too expensive for it's time and lost support very fast but I won't ever part with the console as it holds lots of nostalgia for me.

There were a few good games on 3DO, but it was better known for the crappy games and ridiculous pricing than anything else.
