I saw the booth and I was excited! I wanted to try a 3DS for sooooo long and I wanted to to see what the sucsessor to my DSi had to offer. I went in and found a black one in the back. the screen looked kinda weird from the menu but I found face raiders and booted it up. I couldnt see any 3D and my eyes started to hurt about 15 seconds in, thats when I noticed the slider was all the way up. I brought it to the middle and I started to see the 3D. My friend standing beside me kept telling me he couldnt see any 3D at all so I gave it to him to play and when I looked from beside him the screen just looked blurry. Seems you have to be right infront of it to see the 3D. I got it back and continued playing, my eyes started to hurt which in turn made me tired of the 3D all together so I slid the slider all the way down. After I did that i realized somthing.

I was playing a thicker, heavier, DSi.

I dont know what Nintendo was thinking with this crap, I was completley dissapointed. They shouldve made GBAHD or somthing not this thing. That screen was soo glitchy and the 3D seemed to make it worse than my DSi. Now I know why they are lowering the price, the vita will blow this thing outta the water. I dont mean to bash it, I like nintendo stuff but that was just AWFUL. Who else found it to be a dissapointment?

I tried someone's and wasn't completely happy with it. I doubt I'll even use the 3D (once I purchase one), much like how I don't like the Evo's new 3D feature. It's not that it hurts my eyes, or any other dramatic medical reason, it's just not comfortable. That said, the online shop is a huge plus, as well as the controls. There are few games now, but I'm sure there will be plenty soon enough, plus a huge backlog of DS games. So while I wouldn't have purchased the thing at 250, I'll definitely be getting one as soon a couple games I want to play come out.

I don't use the 3d on mine, I have it turned off in the settings. Now, with that said, I never had any issue with it being turned on. I saw it fine, never got a headache, never went crosseyed.. never had any life changing effects. Did I find it a heavier DSi? I have yet to play a game that was possible on the DSi, but from watching trailers of games that are yet to be released, actual GAME PLAY trailers, the system does look to produce visuals that the DSi could not. Aside from the actual specs proving its more powerful, the game play trailers show it as well. Saying its just a heavier DSi is like saying the Xbox 360 is just a less reliable version the xbox.. or the PS3 is a heavier PS2.

I got a complete headache playing it the 3D brought a cloudy painful wave over my head its hard to describe. I had to turn it off. Also people talk about the graphics, the shapes on the 3DS in face raiders looked the same if not worse than graphics on my DSi. Also its heavier than my DSi so to me it was like playing a heavier DSi. The difference in graphics between PS2/XBOX and PS3/360 was 10 times more substantial than the difference here. Why do you turn the 3D off? isnt that wat you paid for? You coulda had a DSi for alot cheaper.

Unlike alot of other people I haven't had too much of a negative experience in the short times I've managed to get a hold of a 3DS. Granted I've only played on it for about 10-15 mins at a time but in those short instances it seemed cool to me, a bit of a gimick tho(I tend to think of all 3d like that tho).

Side note: I take it you're from edmonton?

Usually the side effects last for a couple of days then you will get used to the 3D effect.

And yes, you need to be in front of 3DS to be able to see it and the 3D effect is much more noticeable when you're playing a game like OoT, it's a little weak in the menus and faceraiders.

I wish I could have went to capital ex to try it. The closest I was to the 3Ds was when I was watchingone of my friends play one of the apps on it.

Nope, the tech behind stereo 3D is fairly simple, in fact 3DS dropped to $170 worldwide.

You aren't paying a premium price to experience 3D, the price of 3DS wouldn't have been different if they didn't include 3D.

It isn't. I don't get why you people call it a DSi with 3D. It's clearly way more powerful than the DSi, let alone the DS.

Face Raiders was probably engineered by some mad scientist as the perfect formula for a migraine. I hope someone at Nintendo got fired for that crap, especially since they had the gall to include it with the system.

Yeah, who cares? The general populace sure doesn't seem too. Considering the DS is selling far better than the 3DS, Nintendo hasn't shown the general consumer that it's actually a new system. They recently started running adds explaining that it's not but I still think people wont really catch on, the entire system is so undistiguishable from a marketing perspective it's hard to tell people that it actually is a new system. The box looks the same, the system looks the same, many of the games look the same, the only difference to most people when they walk into a store is that one box has a 3 infront of the DS.

I agree, it's gotten to the point where I have to meticulously explain what the 3DS is and how it differs from a DSi and is not actually just a new iteration of the device to friends, but the name to any casual or even a core gamer sounds too much like it implies it's just a new DS and not a separate, more powerful handheld. They really dropped the ball when they named it.

And you spend a lot of time defending them! Are your Wii and 3DS gathering dust? ;) We are re-arranging the furnature at my house and painting, so my PS3 is not hooked up right now. And Face Raiders did give me a nasty headache after playing it for a few seconds, and I'm not going to forgive it for that any time soon.
