3DS Breaks All Records in Japan; 4 Million Units Sold In Ten Months

The 3DS is on fire.

In Japan, the 3DS has hit 4 million units sold, well ahead of Iwata's projection of the 3DS hitting 4 million by February 27th, 2012. This means that last week, the 3DS sold a mind boggling 510,000 units. o_O

The 3DS is not just replicating the sales of its predecessor in just the hardware realm though. As far as software is concerned, both, Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 have breached the million units sold mark, barely a month and a half and a month after their intial release respectively

And Nintendo's iron grip over the portable market has been reaffirmed.

I will be satisfied once you realize that there are 40m i-pads (wiki) out there, touch interface is the future of entertainment and an official Pictionary game will drive Wii U sales, alongside with NSMB Mii, like Wii Fit+MK Wii did in 2008.

I wouldn't be surprised if the New Controller's unofficial / official name becomes u-pad, I think that's the reason why they call the system itself Wii U. People will ask for a u-pad anyway, not a Wii U. I think it's genius.

Agreed the 3DS has an amazing library thus far and has a substantially better line up prepared for next year...

I mean sure the Vita has a decent line up for launch (Gravity Rush is launch window but not launch)... However there is a massive drought after that which makes Dreamcast comparisons look bad. Dreamcast through games at you during its short run.

if it was the same exact game with mario not the character but someone else he really wouldnt even be complaining though which is sad
