3Ds copycats the DS in everything except success

The old design, the same poorer tech properities when compared to its rival, the same everything.

Some posters say it will dominate based on its current sales, big LOL, the system was 250$ and it became 170$ in couple of months, I bet Ninty is crying out loud on the lost profit they could have made while fans think this is a great success, not to mention the 3Ds is the only next generation portable and it has nothing to compete with rightnow.

When it comes to games, as usaul, Mario games + ports from old games ... that's all the 3Ds got so far .... funny sheeps are happy, but not strange they live in the Ninty world afterall .. lol.

The Vita houses better tech, much better actually, more than PSP and DS difference .... great price, an actually evolving hardware, with the tough pad, sixaxis, rear touch, DOUBLE ANALOUGE which Ninty is despretely trying to incorporate now for additional 20$.

Some sheeps say history will repeat itself but we saw the two example, DS VS PSP and PS2>>>PS3 .....Ninty can lose alot just like Sony did with the PS3 .... on the long term, the 3Ds won't keep up, it's just a rehashed DS ..... while the Vita will dominate imo.

I am obviously one of the 'sheep' (hate those crap labels) you are referring to.

I might have doubted this when the 3DS was struggling but it's obvious to anyone now.

The 3DS is now cheaper, tracking ahead of the DS' first year and already has a steadily growing library of first and third party games.

Not only does it have Mario games but a Pokemon game (biggest handheld franchise and system mover) announcement is supposedly going to be announced this month.

But most of all, one of PSP's biggest system mover and ace card, Monster Hunter, is now on 3DS (MHtG) and the fourth is confirmed to be coming to the system and we are not even sure if it will also be exclusive or multi-plat.

The 3DS is getting support from the major Japanese companies.

At this point it's obvious Nintendo has played all the right cards in turning around the fate of the 3DS. They've put it at the right price and are getting the games.

This isn't anything fanboyish, I'm not saying Vita is doomed but anyone who thinks Vita will have sales close to 3DS through-out the generation or even surpass it is living a pipe-dream.

All this was in the other thread that the TC uses the words "crystal ball" a few dozen times to counter every arguement. 8/10 people can see the success the 3ds will be while the other 2 are delusional fanboys.

So the 3DS is out-selling the DS in the same timeframe, has an excellent line-up of games on the way (Monster Hunter and Pokemon guaranteed to print money and success), is priced less than the Vita... and it won't do better than the DS and won't do better tha the Vita?

Anything could happen really, the 3DS could boost (even more than it already is) in sales by the end of this year and keep it's momentum for the next 4-5 years (maybe even 6) and the PSvita can be dead at launch. Or, PSvita has a really great launch and a first year and the 3DS finally has direct compitition. Or the end of the world could happen (You know, 2012) and both systems will die :P You really dont know till it happens.

The Game Gear, Atari Lynx, Turboexpress, Sega Nomad, Game.com, Neo Geo Pocket, Wonderswan, and PSP were all handhelds that boasted greater power and more features then Nintendo's handhelds.

Out of those, the Game Gear and PSP were the only ones that saw any success. The Game Gear's success was mostly due to shoving the Lynx and Turboexpress out of the market and eating up their share. When compared to the sales of the Game Boy, the Game Gear falls very short. As for the PSP, it fared much better, but its sales were still far below what the DS managed in its lifetime. And outside Japan, the PSP is on life support in most other regions. Let's be honest here, the PSP has had little to no impact in the West.

Which leads me to my point. Power means nothing for the handhelds that have tried to compete with Nintendo's systems. Time after time, superior technology that boasted better graphics and more features failed in the face of what Nintendo offered. I'm not saying Nintendo is better, but they seem to have a much better understanding as to how to sell a handheld.

Which raises this question. What suddenly makes the Vita the handheld that will finally dethrone Nintendo? From all appearances, Sony is using the same gameplan as before. Bring out a superior handheld to the market place at a higher price then Nintendo's offering and try to appeal to the people who want power. Here's the thing, that mindset has not worked since the 90's

I'm not saying Sony is going to fail, but they have an uphill battle. The 3DS has finally found its footing and its has the games that move systems. At this point, what does Sony have that could compete with Mario 3D Land or Mario Kart 7? Uncharted may sell, but its still below Mario's level in terms of popularity or having the ability to sell systems.

And one other thing to keep in mind. The 3DS still has not gotten a Pokemon game yet.

$250 isn't a good price for any hand held gaming system. The 3DS has sold more than the original DS in terms of first-year sales. If you have a crystal ball that can reveal how well the system will be doing throughout its entire lifespan, I'd love to see it.

I own a 3DS and I already think it is better than the original DS. A portable doesn't need cutting edge graphics. People often show screens of Vita or IOS devices claiming, "look how great this looks!" But it STILL looks dated compared to ps3/360, which are ALREADY dated, so the wow factor just isn't there.

Have you seen how it has been selling lately? ;) PS Vita got no chance.
