Pretty awesome. One good thing I noticed was that it didn't suffer something most other shooters suffer from:
When there's allies, they don't all ignore them and shoot you :|
thrones
Whats more annoying is when all your allies die in the first firefight in a level.
Looked like hte six axis was pretty innacurate there. You could see he kept missing, so he had to get closer to hit them. DivergeUnify
Aren't you going to take into account that he could have possibly been distracted by the sounds around him and the fact that he was most likely standing andthe fact that he is most likely NOT used to the game yet? ITs pretty hard to play your best with all those things going on.
Has little to do with the controller.

Yeah, normally that's an excuse to not bother with their AI or designing the levels with them in mind. Here it seems they're with you alot.
You know without the lighting technique and filters I dont think it would look any better than gears 2, atleast not texture and model detail wise. The animation of the shaking camera and effects they do as you look around with your gun being pretty loose makes it seem very alive though so thats definatly a plus over gears 2 also. The lense flare is done really well too, it matches the lighting and enviroment really well adding a cenimatic touch to it.justforlotr2004

Yeah I know, and it looks great. Im just saying the lighting and filters covers up the rather not so mind blowing visuals, but its great work by GG and I wouldnt mind seeing more games using these techniques.
I'm far from FPS fan, but every console FPS video I see makes me wonder if people playing FPS with their thumbs have something wrongly wired in their heads. Feels completely unnatural and plain frustrative in my opinion, kinda like having soup with hashi.
Gorgeous looking video BTW.
I saw a different video but your one was better, you could see things more close up and he looked around and tryed out the rocket launcher.
I dont see why people say the textures are bad, I looked at that large concrete block and it looked great, and the floor looked very good as well. What amazed me was how much stuff there was, the building was crammed with detail and everything was just so detailed it was great!
The animations are also great, I remember the devs talking about that once and showed a demonstration of them shooting a helghast up close, it reacted so realisticly it was amazing! Plus the way the camera moves as the character runs is cool. This game is as much about animations as it is anbout graphics, but it must be, if it was all graphics and then everything else was not to the same standard it would feel lacking.
I was amazed by that video. Gears also looks great and whilst I still think KZ2 looks better in terms of, well just about everything. these games are goig to own everything else!!! Haze wont stand a chance those devs should have sticked to timesplitters!

yeah, in game it says it releases in 12 days. If it gets a good review I might buy it to fill in the gap, then I will trade it in for resistance.

The textures are actually not that great, I infact say it could be worse than Gears of war 1 textures. Of course KZ2 is way bigger than Gears 1 so that isnt to suprising. The Characters have great animations but the actual models arent extremly detailed and are flatly textured.

Im not knocking thier techniques, they have done wel with it. What Im trying to convey is that Killzone 2 isnt leagues above Gears 2 in a lot of things, but it manages to look really cinematic in a way that Gears 2 just doesnt quite nail.

I dont know, the floors seemed pretty good and so did the blocks to use as cover. Gears looks OK but remember you get much closer up to things in FPS than TPS which hides textures more. I though the platform looked a little bland but then it was supposed to be as it was metal.
I thought it looked quite nice. But it still has 9 months you never know they probably have not completed all the textures yet.

Not the best compairson and they are both a little blury since they are takin from gameplay videos, but I think it shows what I mean.
Gears of war seems to use bump mapping on a lot of their surfaces while Killzone tries to use the old technique of using dark and light colours to try to simulate the bumps on walls and stuff. Its still in development so I wont go to hard on it but just giving my input on the graphics.

I see what you mean, but is that gears 2, if so it looks OK but not great, I like it when it looks more sharp but that seems a little blurred.
I see what you mean now and it may change but I actually prefer it. It seems to work and in motion I did not notice it too much. the ground looks ok its more that concrete block.

No thats Gears of war 1 multiplayer. As for being blurred its because both games are in motion so they are both a little more blurry than they are in the actual game.
That looks better than gears 2? HAHAHAHA that barely beats gears one!
The game still hasnt fixed its aiming problems this will at most get an 8.5.
@ justforlotr2004
I looked at the pic more closely on word and I see what you mean. But the only reason you can tell is becuase on the straight lines of the concrete, thats what gives it away, but it stil looks good and when playing the game inless you look closely it wont notice and since you wont notice the straight lines it will look 3D.
its only noticeable close up and not in motion so i woul not worry about it.

Right now it barely beats Gears 1 in enviroment textures if at all, but the overall look of the game is better due to the techniques they are using.

Yeah its not that big of a deal since the game overall looks great, but I think Gears 2 will have better enviroment textures. We will have to wait till they release some on foot gameplay of Gears 2 though.
looks great. Textures look better but still very inconsistant. Some look good, but many others are weak. However, they have done a good job putting the good textures on things you will actually get close enough to really notice. Now, I won't say that the controls are at falt but whoever was playing seemed to be having a very hard time. The controls did seem a bit jerky but again, that may be the person playing... Character models are good but like was said above, textures on them seem a bit flat. Highly detailed, but very flat. Some of the transitions between rubble and ground are a bit rough but I can't say that many other games have done that transition very well either...
The lighting makes all the difference though. They have made a VERY impressive lighting scheme that really improves the overall look of the game.

i think its pretty close to the trailer. im pretty impressed about how good it looks.
How can people say the gears 2 textures are good, some of them are on par with textures from an xbox1 game.
CF
lol where are you seeing Xbox 1 textures?

Mountains are really hard to texture, trust me Ive done some myself. They are using the same technique for the mountains as Killzone 2 has for its walls like I posted before. The textures are way to high rez though to be close to Xbox 1 textures.
Gears of war 1 used the same technique on its character models like the Brumack, but now Gears of war 2 has a lot more on its characters and other objects.
Gears of war PC, which is even better looking that Gears of war for 360 doesnt even hold a candle to the detail in Gears 2 models.
They actually modeled the entire armor to be 360 rather than using illusion textures like above in the Gears of war for PC.
Judging by trailers and such, KZ2 is looking incredibly cinematic and has some absolutely mazing set pieces. That doesn't mean it doesn't have rough edges though. I noticed some areas looking really quite bland (such as the bit of the trailer with the grenade being thrown at the APC dropping off helghast troops). As mentioned beforehand, there is a certain lack of bump mapping and everything's a bit "square". We don't know quite how cinematic it will remain either. The first started off with a massive battle with heaps of helghast charging across the map and artillery going off everywhere. This looks like a pretty damn good first level as well, but how long will it last? Killzone quickly degraded into one man wandering down corridors and facing a few enemies in a corridor before moving on. It happened with Resistance as well. It was marketed as an absolutely chaotic awesome-fest but only 15% of the game featured any kind of chaotic battle. The other 85% was walking through murky corridors and feeble attempts to scare you when *shock* something happens around the corner.
If it's as chaotic as this throughout the game, it's gonna be one hell of an experience. if not, it's probably going to resort to mediocrity. My safest bet is with gears 2 but I can't wait to see how KZ2 turns out, even though I absolutely hated the first.
[edit] Much of the "ZOMG TEH DESTRUCTIBLE ENVIRONMENTSES!" seem to be taken from segments of the game where that particular bit of terrain is an objective. I did notice a massive crater being left by an explosion in another video, but it's hard to tell if that's scripted or not.
