40 things the PSN needs to equal up to Xbox live

1- universal friends list in all games.
2- mandatory A/V chat for every game.
2- mandatory demos for all games.
3- mandatory videos of all PSN games.
4- custom soundtracks for all games.
5- XMB access while running a game or movie.
6- unlimited number of friends entries.
7- file-sharing for saves and pictures- at least.
8- custom wallpapers.
9- custom boot-up intro.
10- enabling ripping of DVD/BD movies along with any PS game into HDD.
11- universal online play for any game.
13- option for selecting online multiplayer based on country, region, continent, language, age, gender, etc. for all games.
14- sending/receiving video messages.
15- Divx/Xvid and Windows Media file support.
16- updatable flash/Java support.
17- detection of external HDDs via USBto allow file swapping either way.
18- detecting PC/laptop connected via USB, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to allow file swapping either way.
19- file-sharing via PSP (via Wi-Fi or USB).
20- sleep mode for controller.
21- sending Playstation Underground news via PSN messaging.
22- live streams and immediate updates of major game/movie shows' videos and public demos.

Have I missed anything?

One thing Xbox Live needs to do - be free. I already pay through the nose for the games which cost that much because they spent a long time developing online for them, without online most games would suck these days (GEoW, Ghost Recon etc wouldn't be anywhere near as good), so I don't see why I should pay to play online as well.

I don't care how 'average' the PSN is, it's still free. 

Even the Live doesnt have some of those features.

Not to mention, alot of those do not have anything to do with PSN.

PSN received about 8 videos this week, along with a PS1, PS2, DVDs upscaling feature which breathes new life to hundreds of games.

Also Home will completely own xbox live.

As far as I'm concerned the only thing PSN 'needs' to compete with XBOXLIVE is a plausable user interface for each game (which it has), and decent connectivity with NO LAG (which it has).  Since its FREE yes thats right FREE I think it more than competes with xboxlive. 

Plus just so 360 fanboys can understand... PSN dosnt' have to beat XBOXLIVE to win out as the best overall experience.  It just has to do the required things correctly and continue to promise updates while remaining FREE.  XBOXLIVE can throw all the bells and whistles in its interface, but it will still be charging 50$ which dosn't look good if PSN can do the same thing with less lag for FREE.

lol i was just thinking that...i own...well owned a 360 its sent in for repair but some of those things arent available on the 360 and what does dvd ripping have to do with live or psn. alot of stuff on there has nothing to do with online play....and 360 cant rip dvds....to its hdd

Uh good list but some of those arent even possible on the 360. Such as Xvid support and DVD ripping.
