Tsk tsk tsk, Nintendo Nintendo Nintendo. You started to have Japanese third parties eat out of your hand once they saw that your console was selling like hot cakes in the land of the rising sun and looked at Dragon Quest Swords and saw that there was potential for third parties on the console. If I can recall it was around summer inbetween E3 and a little after TGS where many titles were annouced like Tales of Symphonia 2, Fatal Frame IV, Oboro Muramasa Youtoden, SEGA's Dungeon Crawler, Chocobo Dungeon, and even some more. However for some reason Nintendo didn't supply enough killer titltes to have the thing keep selling, so the hardware and software sales fell. Now it seems that the PS3 actually has a real chance to reclaim it's throne as winner. Nintendo better do something and do something fast.

On a possitive note, in North America (the region that holds almost 50% of the market) the complete opposite is happening with hardware and software sales increasing. And the PS3....well last time a checked the oppostie.

I was more talking about United States sales...which and far and above what sells elsewhere.

I don't see anything that tracks European sales...at all. Not even VGcharts does. It's kind of an inconsequential point i guess is my point. Unless actual units sold are shown.
