When some core games get announced for it, I may care. Stuff like MGS: Rising may use it, but thats not a core game built around it, just a core game USING it. Sony has patented some amazing technologies too for years now, and they never came to light, not only do I need to see these come to light to care, I need to see them used in a game I care about.110million
its more than core games but there will be core games.
They just bought the company that had the 44 patents. Those 44 patents having nothing to do with MS developing Kinect, they bought the company that had patents that applies to Kinect and future 3D camera tech. Nonstop-Madness
you just said it doesnt apply to Kinect and does apply to Kinect in two sentences, lol, they will incorporate those 44 patents into Kinect and will be uploaded via a software firmware update to Kinect Via award winning xbox live service.

it DOES NOT apply to MICROSOFT DEVELOPING KINECT. MS nor Kinect has anything to do with the creation of those patents. Those patents were created by another company which MS has JUST BOUGHT. and NO, those patents will not be used on Kinect because most do not apply to Kinect specifically. Those patents could easily be applied to many other devices.
PS - Go back to youtube, GeneralMLD.
You hold patents so the other companies cannot do the same stuff. So it's not 44 games? :(
Patents are meaningless if you dont do anything with it.

I didn't know you were the MS spokesman...
Remember that time Sony patented PS Arc? Or the touch controller? Companies patent products not for their own use but to stop anybody doing it regardless of whether they intent on using it themselves.

Patent disputes have been overturned before because of precedents and public intellectual property.
If you go to their website for a list of the patents, the majority of them are new methods on existing technology. I guess that's kind of exciting...
You hold patents so the other companies cannot do the same stuff. thats not true. patents just make a company pay for its use. Sony can use anything MS patents as long as they pay for it. MS has to pay to maintain that patent so they make other companies pay for its use. Its very rare that a company does not allow another company to use its patents.[QUOTE="Gxgear"]

Me or you dont know what the patents can do, but safe bet is these patent technologies will be used with Kinect if you ask me. I guess we shall see, would love to know about the 44 patents, obviously Microsoft has something in mind, gotta love their fire and drive..
Tell that to Ralph Baer :P. Patents are the only reason the Magnovox Odyssey ended up being profitable. (Doesn't really apply to us, but still...)Patents are meaningless if you dont do anything with it.

Will these patents be implemented in the camera that's being released this november?http://www.tgdaily.com/hardware-features/52274-kinect-is-just-the-beginning-for-microsoft

Then it really wont help Kinects initial image then. First impressions really count. Look no further than the PS3. Came out expensive and had a small library for a while and now the Xbox is more popular, regardless of what sony does. Also, I think the camera would have been worth while if MS would have kept the original features and strengths. The fact that they took some features that gave major advantages over its competitors makes me less confident that any of these improvements will be made.http://www.tgdaily.com/hardware-features/52274-kinect-is-just-the-beginning-for-microsoft

Something to remember. When people say its the future becauseit reminds them ofminority report, remember, they didnt use that technology in that moviefor video games, only interface, menus, and stuff like that. So just because the tech looks cool, doesnt mean that it is going to be good for video games. And also, that minority report tech looked leaps and bounds more advanced than the kinect. Its censors your motion. Thats all. Not saying that isnt cool or anything, but look at the games so far, they look like crap at best. And could the games get better for that particular kind of tech for the future, maybe, but dont act like its a sure thing to happen.
