I can understand when people argue the principle that LIVE is not worth $50.
But, when people argue that LIVE is some type of financial burden - it's mind boggling.
[QUOTE="sillaris"][QUOTE="beast667"]Wait, theres only 5 good games on each system? Then I really need to thin out my collection...beast667u have bad taste in games Well, you might be right, I'm playing (and enjoying) Too Human, a 5.5 game
No, a real gamer plays what he wants. I know people who played Too Human and loved it, hell, I know people who play a lot of sub 7 games and like them because they get a lot of points taken off for flaws, but people overlook them. However, a game like Gears of War 2, which doesn't have many flaws but has glaring ones like broken multiplayer, people hate.
Scores mean nothing. People just can't form their own opinions so they listen to some random nub who tells them what to like.
[QUOTE="XaosII"][QUOTE="Legendaryscmt"]Even by the money for Live logic, $50 a year is nothing, even in these bad economical times.treedoor
Why pay more when comparable systems offer the same, or even more, for 0$?
Because the PSN doesn't offer more than Live.
Cool.
I dont care about PSN.

it is really saddening to see that, people basing their opinions on what one guys thinks.[QUOTE="sillaris"][QUOTE="beast667"]Wait, theres only 5 good games on each system? Thats the amount of good games on each system, and thats how many games people buy for each of their systems...if your filthy rich, Xbox Live is good if not then no who agrees?Ciocio7
Correction:
That's the amount of AAA exclusive games each system has according to GameSpot and how many games some people buy for each of their systems.
I have close to 50 games for the Xbox 360 alone (not including Arcade games). To me, that $50 a year (actually around $40 or less, as I've never paid full price for a year of Live) is well worth it.

No, I tend to find most reviews differ from my personal opinion, some websites are much closer than others however.[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"][QUOTE="Andrew_Xavier"] Halo Wars is scoring really well on gamerankings.com, I assume the review was just an oversight on gamespot's part...Andrew_Xavier

If $50 a year is a financial burden to you, you probably need to find a hobby other than video games.BigJerm1If dishing out $50 a year is fine to you, what justifies the price?

Depends on the review. The halo wars review clearly went against gamespot's written code, which is featured on the review section, that indicates that they compare games against other games of the same genre on the same platform. Since that was obviously not followed, the review is an oversight on gamespot's part.Thats the amount of good games on each system, and thats how many games people buy for each of their systems...if your filthy rich, Xbox Live is good if not then no who agrees?Ciocio7

its16 cents a day! that you have to pay all at once. You could say a new cable box is 50 cents a day but we don't use that logic with a new cable box. We only use that logic for xbox live and it dosen't work that wayLEt see...

I disagree. I know that you can play online on all other systems for free, but at the end of the day we're all using a service. The reason LIVE cost money is because is a basic business model - you have a service and you want people to pay for said service. Obviously, all the other systems prefer a different business model that shifts the burden of maintenence away from the consumers.
Admittedly, I'd like it LIVE was free, but everyone acts like it's so atrocious that Microsoft charge users for their service.
So in short, I suppose my answer is LIVE isn't free because Microsoft is "evil" and charges for everything :P

"certainly not"...and what might be the reason? what, that XBL is superior to PSN? or that XBL should be free? 1. yes, XBL should be free, but me, like everyone else on the the 360 bit. 2. sorry, but PSN, imo, is terrible. XBL is more elegant, simple, and functional.

When did I mention PSN? I don't even own a ps3. Every time I ask someone to give a reason why XBL should cost money no one can give an answer and so this continues...
